Luvs Lulu Donating Member | I think they are both essentially the same thing as they feed off a satellite to get service. I have Directv and it's good...the bad thing is sometimes when you have inclement weather you lose signal.

| We have the Dish Network and haven't had any problems either. Same as Direct, during heavy thunderstorms we lose service until the heavy clouds pass.

| Thanks for the replies. I have been trying to get Direct TV installed since the end of June. They have not bothered to show up for two different appts. No call either, very, very irritating. I called Dish on Sunday, when Direct TV failed to show for 2nd time and they are supposed to come install it tomorrow. If Dish shows, then their service is WAY superior to Direct TV. I was just wondering if anyone had any problems with either one like the one I have been experiencing. , or even if there were many "outtages" because of weather. I am tired of just having 3 channels Wish me luck that tomorrow night, I will be flipping channels like a mad woman.

| we have had dish network for almost 5 years. we like it. dish has a promotion going on right now to where you get $10 credited to your bill for the first 10 months and you get $5 a month credit for something else (have to pull up my bill and see what thats for) never really had any dealings with direct tv

Donating YT 14K Club Member | We have DirecTv. They recently went up like $5 on our bill but we haven't added anything nor do we use PPV. Inflation, I guess. My only complaint is if a storm cloud comes by, no completely loose signal.

| Directv.....Sorry really long experience I have directv and have had them for 3 years or more. my main problem with them is the people they hired to isntal. i have moved 3 times. ( we rent) and each time it has been horrible. 1st time getting Directv no real problems i can remember 2nd time the whole FREE MOVE thing i called in it, the guy stopped by, insisted the dish be on a pole, completed everything and told me i owed him $145.00 for parts and labor. i recalled the FREE MOVE to him and he said installing the pole and running the wire cost. i got him off my property by eventually by writting HIM a check, no directv. it took me weeks to get answers from directv, it was explained to me that if it needed to be one a pole then there was no charge, if you wanted it on a pole there was a charge. first i wasnt allowed corportate, names, number or addresses. i was told to only go throught the subcontractors who install for Directv. Several weeks later a man brought me a money order with my money back and explained the man had been doing this alot and was let go. 2nd Move (to where we live now) a guy showed up but this time had friends, not co workers but 4 buddies come with him. he again explained it needed to be on the pole to receive service. then told me that it was going to cost me X amount of dollars i told him that not if he said it had to be on the pole. Then he changed and said he would put it on the house without any garauntee that it would work. i explaiend that was not acceptible. he then proceeded to tell me that directv doesnt pay for the parts and that he would need to go to the store to collect the parts and that if i didnt pay for it i was taking food out of his babies mouths. all of this is his in my face being down right nasty i called my husband home who is really big = ) and he asked if there was a problem. the man calmed down with him and again try to ripp us off. we eventually gave him $10.00 (which saistified him long enough to do the work) he also upgraded all my receivers. oh and he never went to the store i watched him pull everything he needed from his truck. the employees do not purchase the supplies. He leaves, then calls me back 2 hours later and says he made a mistake on the new recievers if i wanted to keep them he would need to collect $250.00 per box tonight. i told him in not some many nice words to come get them. He did, he came right back took the boxes and never hooked the others back up. and you only pay 250.00 each if you buy them, most people just lease them. i made numerous complaints to Directv, Directv Corporate ( i got the info from BBB) and i contacted the BBB. The last guy also set up it where i got charged for 6 receivers when i only had 3 and it took months to figure that out. so my advice is to stay away from Directv im looking to switch now, but im only one opinion Good luck |

| We had directv and it sucked! We didn't have problems with our signal but we found their customer service department terrible! They were always messing something up. Every time we would have a technician come look at our box or dish they would come at times when we said we wouldnt be home and just sit in our drive way and call non stop. It was annoying! I always get creeped out my letting strangers like that in and so I called my mom to come sit with me and they installed our system when we moved. After he was done we had a heck of a time getting him to go. He sat and watched tv with us. I was so glad mom stayed with me. I give them a big

| We have had DirectTV for years! We really have not had any problems with their service people. Over the years, they have installed and upgraded new stuff for us, then when the kids moved out, they made changes. We also have DVR service with them. When the weather is bad, we do have problems sometimes.

| I have had both. Dish is the one that I like best. I left Direct (with them for 3 years) because they wanted a phone line behind all the receivers for them to work or I could only have 1 receiver on. It was not feasible for me to put phone lines behind all my tv's and they would not make exceptions. They did not try to resolve the issue until I had already left to go to Dish. I have been with now for 5 years. Good luck... |

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | Dish Network for the win! We don't really lose signal ever, only if there's a REALLY bad storm. and if we ever have a problem they come check it out the next day.
