| jack russell terrier owners any out there My husband bought this CRAZY jack russel terrier home with him back in March, her family couldn't deal with her and now I know why....... she a fruitcake........ the last straw was friday afternoon, my daughter had taken her dogs down to the creek to swin and I thought I would be kind and take Gracie(jack russell) with them. she always has to have a harness on because if she gets loose she gone flat out on the run..... some how she slip her harness and she loose in the water she goes gets out on the other side of the bank now and disappers we can hear her put can't see her, so my daughter and I swim across the creek look for 15 mins and finally found her she had gone down I guess a turtle hole and all the was sticking up in this hole was her stump of a tail. we had to pull her out of the hole and as soon as we got her out she was trying her darnest to get back down there.. are all jack russell this crazy........I am use to yorkie who don't like to get there feet wet much less go down a dark hole . even the labs have enough sense to stay out of water fill holes.... my husband thought it was funny. |

| Oh, boy, do I feel your pain.... My boss has a JRT and I guess you could say he's half mine, because whenever my boss is out of town, I am expected to take care of him (which is a whole different story I have posted here before). Anyway, I swear, JRT's are crazy. They are soooooooooooo hyper and always get in trouble. I take his JRT to the dog park when I have him just to run and run and run. And he drives the other dogs in the park nuts, because he's jumping on top of them and is IN THEIR FACE. I cannot leave my yorkie alone with him, because I don't trust him. I could never own one myself, I'd go crazy.

| she can be really good and I think there hope for her and then she falls off the wagon so to speak, I don't leave her alone with wicket (yorkie) she has never offer to hurt him at all she very gentle with him. it's like she knows he's little and to play gentle. she plays with the labs rough and tough they sometimes run from her. she just plain weird.... |

| The JRT I watch is only 10 months which adds to the whole hyper challenge. I'm hoping he'll calm down when he 'grows up'. The funny thing is, he's much calmer when my boss is around, so he'll say: "I don't know why you say he's crazy..." I think he's a pain in the a** in general!

| Gracie is 2yrs old and they do not clam down any, I first met jack russell when I started helping with the mardi gras horses, those people have 7 of them and they all live indoors. they range in age from 5yrs to 13yrs they are still wild. thats what I couldn't understand when my husband bought her home he knew they were wild and jumping and he would always complain about them, and he goes and brings one home.. just had a thought here..maybe it's my husband that crazy and the dog is normal....... |

| We get a lot of Jack Russells at the shelter. They are always running away or killing people's chickens or cats. They go after groundhogs, skunks anything small. They will go in any hole they can fit into. They are escape artists. I wouldn't want one. We got an old jack russell in the shelter that killed chickens, he went over a mile to get to that farm. I don't think they ever calm down. |

| My neighbor has a jack russell and boy oh boy that girl is hyper. When I go over she literally jumps up in my arms while I'm standing up. She's very strong too.. They are cute but I don't have the energy to own one |

| OMG!!...My DD had a JR once..you would have thought is a** was on fire!!....run..run..run...That dog ALWAYS had to be on a leash...if he got out, good luck catching him....in the house he would run up on the back of the couch , run across the back & leap off...he never seemed to run out of gas!!....He could stand in one spot & spring up in your face.....A very high energy dog....

| I guess my half Jack Russell, half s**tzu must have gotten her personality from the dad who was a s**tzu. She is so laid back and calm. She's a real sweetheart. She looks just like a Jack Russell though. |

| my boss has a JR and its one of the only dogs i've met that i just dont like. its always so crazy, constantly jumping on people and barking. IT brings dead animals in the house all the time and is really bad around kids.

| My MIL has a JRT and she is the sweetest thing, but she looooves to chase squirrels. The good thing is that they have 5 acres or so for her to run around on, and she loves it. Sometimes, she just goes out there to bask in the sun, and other times she just runs and chases the squirrels. JRT need LOTS of exercise, that's why it's good for them to have a fenced-in backyard or something like that where they can run free for a little while to burn energy, and then bring them back inside. Good luck!! They're good dogs, but they love to chase things...

| I was not fond of them either before we got Gracie, the stable that I would ride my horse up too had 7 jack russells they were all jumping on springs , thats why I was shock when my husband bought her home. Gracie has 80 acreas to run and jump creek to swim in and we can't turn her loose for nothing she always finding ways to get hurt or lost, the labs on the other hand have a ball out there they stay in the water most of the time. |

| I don't have one, but bf's brother does. That dog is HIPER!!! He runs and runs, and runs some more. Hes even fixed.... I don't know what they are going to do with him. He tears things up in a matter of minutes. I won't let them bring him around my dogs, because I am scared what he will do. He will jump over me |

| My brother has 2 JRT's, a Great Dane and Pitbull, and I swear the Great Dane and Pitbull are angels compared to the 2 JRT's. They are older too and are insane. They use the poor Great Dane as they own jungle gym. The older one challenges the Pitbull and he just stands there like what do you want me to do. They are a mess. Not sure if it's the breed or my brother LOL, but I know one thing I love my Yorkie and Boxer so much.
