BANNED FOR NOT MAILING PRODUCTS PURCHASED | what can she do?? As a lot of you know, my full time job is taking care of 2 elderly ladies in a private elderly care home. This is all private funding, so medicaid or medicare does NOT pay for any of their rent. One of the ladies that lives here has almost ran out of money, reasoning: She did not pay her taxes for 8 years! This lady is 89 years old and has Alzheimer's. But the IRS does not care and they have come back on her and they want their money! So now this poor lady has to go back into a nursing home come September because she is out of funds. We have had her for 2 years and it's just killing me that she will be leaving us. She has no family, she was married 2 times but no kids. Both husbands has passed away. The only family she has now is a great nephew from marriage. They have hired an attorney that cost her $5000 and he has not done anything but take more of her money. This is so sad |

| how terribly sad! I'm assuming it's the same in your state....she now has to go to a Medicaid funded facility? I have to be honest, I don't think there's much you're going to be able to do short of paying for her private facility yourself. And God knows....I know how much that must be! My only other thought is no matter where she goes can you stop and check in on her? As awful as this is going to sound and I'm sure you already know it because you work in the field BUT they tend to care for them better when they know somebody is coming to check up. I visit one of our local nursing homes once a week to visit my "Nans"! I have about 10 of them all to myself! Let me explain, 2 years ago my Uncle was there for a year before he passed. During that time I got quite attached to these Nans and once my Uncle was gone I never stopped visiting them. I know that at least once a week they'll be up, dressed, hair combed and ready for their visit. You see....I'm the only one who ever goes and visits them. I'm sorry...you must feel helpless.

| That is so sad. If we don't take care of our elderly who's going to? They've lived a long time, and contributed a lot to this world. You would think people would want to help them. |
