| I need help making a FRUIT FREEZE OR SMOOTHIE? I wanted to make a fruit smoothie/freeze for my Bio class. I have a presentation due next thursday on Native Food Plants so I thought I would involve the class by making and handing out fruit smoothies/freezes made with a native fruit plant from the Rio Grande Valley... but do i just add ice and fruit in a blender and blend? Does anyone have a good easy recipe for this? Thanks! |

| At our house we buy the Dannon or Weight Watcher yogurt drinks in by the yogurt section at most stores. I poor one of those drinks with frozen cherries, strawberries, and blueberries. I dont add ice because if you use the frozen fruit it acts like ice. I put it all in my magic bullet...and you have great smooties in no time. can also use frozen peaches, rasberries, etc. if you want to add banana just cut up 1/2 one (not frozen and add with the rest of the frozen fruit) or if you dont want frozen fruit, you can use fresh fruit, yogurt icecream, and ice. |

| Tropical Fruit Smoothie Makes 4 1/2 cups, enough for 4 servings Vary the amounts of sugar and lemon juice depending on the ripeness of the fruit. INGREDIENTS 1 medium banana (ripe, about 4 ounces), peeled and cut crosswise into eight pieces 3 1/2 cups mango , pineapple, or papaya, peeled, cored or seeded, and diced (1- to 2-inch pieces, about 16 ounces) 2/3 cup whole milk 2/3 cup white cranberry juice or apple juice pinch table salt 3 - 6 teaspoons granulated sugar 2 - 3 teaspoons lemon juice 3 ice cubes (about 1 1/2 ounces total) Line rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper; arrange banana and tropical fruit in single layer on baking sheet. Freeze fruit until very cold, but not frozen, about 10 minutes. In blender, puree cold fruit, milk, juice, salt, 1 tablespoon sugar, 1 teaspoon lemon juice, and ice until uniformly smooth, 10 to 15 seconds. Taste for sugar and lemon; if desired, add more sugar or lemon and blend until combined, about 2 seconds longer. Serve immediately. This is from Cook's Illustrated...they test all their recipes every which way they can for the best way to prepare something...so it should be great..

| I use a container of yogurt (any flavor but you will want to match with your fruit), fruit and ice cubes (a lot of ice cubes). Mix all in blender. I use strawberry yogurt with strawberries. Pina Colada yogurt (at Walmart) with pineapples. Mixed berry yogurt with blueberries or rasberries.

| I like strawberry smoothies. I use about 10 frozen strawberries, a handful of frozen pineapple, about 4-6 ice cubes, a scoop of either vanilla ice cream or orange sherbet, and Sir Strawberry juice from Trader's. You have to use juice, ice, fruit, and some sort of ice cream, sorbet, yogurt or sherbet. Then just fuss with it until it is the right consistency.
