| Both My Children Are Getting Their Tonsils Out! I took my daughter to the ENT yesterday because her tonsils were bleeding and they have finally decided that they are going to take them out, but they also have decided to take out my sons at the same time. What am I in for. Are they going to be cranky and miserable? The doctor says no activity for two weeks . That is going to feel like an eternity! |

| What a way to start the summer. It's better to do it while they are young and get it over with. Have lots of ice pops in the freezer I remember those days. Good luck to you and your children. I am sure everything will go just fine. |

| How old are they? If they're pretty young, they should feel better before too long. I got mine out at age 5 and really don't remember much but my nephew had his out a few years ago and it wasn't too bad. At least you'll have both down for recuperation instead of having to run after one and nurse the other. That could be a plus to get it all over with at once. On the other hand, adults having their tonsils out is far more serious. My best friend has her's done a few years ago and it was hell! She didn't believe the dr. when he warned her but she sure found out real quick how bad it was. Good luck with them!

| There you go.... look at it that way! I think my nephew felt pretty good after only a few days. The scabbing issue that gives adults such excrutiating pain is not so bad for younger kids. Just have lots of popsicles and ice cream handy!

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I had mine out - it'll be raw for them for a few days but it's got to be better than it was when I had mine out. They should be ok - LOTS of ice cream always helps |

My mom told me that when she was a child (She us now 60) everyone had them out. They use to just take you to the doctor and the doctor would just scoop them out. I am glad that modern medicine has been invented. | |

| Even when I was a kid (30 years ago), it was common for most kids to just get them taken out. More of a preventative thing than anything. It's not so common anymore.

| Lots of ice cream and ice pops! My older sister and I had ours out at the same time - She was 5 and I was 3. My mother said all I ate was crushed ice for a week.

| i had my tonsils out when i was little... as long as they don't react badly to the ansethesia... they will be fine.. just lots of drinking and jello and freezies!!! i think they just tell you two weeks... as soon as they feel better ... two or three days... they can be back to normal... i remember my throat being VERY sore.. but not for longer than a day or two. |
