| This might sound vague, but here goes anyway..... I always start with a mental image and a scrap of fabric. It usually get's ugly from there...... I hack away with sissors and make lots of small unrecognizable scraps. Generally speaking I shelve about 90% of my ideas for future trial and error. Every once in a while I get lucky. The main thing is -- DON'T BE AFRAID TO TRY TO DO SOMETHING use your mind and let your heart get involved and if at first you don't succeed, then keep trying. |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I first started sewing when I was very young, like 5 years old, and have sewn all my life. So, when I got Ruby and decided to make clothes it wasn't new to me. I love fabric and when I see something I want to use, usually the design just pops into my head. I have a cabinet filled with fabric for future projects. If you're not familiar with sewing it's best to get a simple pattern and cheaper fabric and start there. Don't get discouraged when you make a mistake - that's what seam rippers are made for - mistakes. It's hard to offer tips not knowing if you can sew or not, do you?
