Donating YT 3000 Club Member | I'll have this party no matter what they think!!! (venting...) Tuesday is Bengi's 1 Birthday!!! I'm so excited! So, I decided to invite my parent and other family members to celebrate it on Sunday. I don't have friends with small dogs, so only my brother will bring his minipin, Brownie. The thing is that when I told my mom that I was going to invite them for lunch because it was Bengi b-day, she laughed at me!!! She was like "I'd love to have lunch, but don't tell people it's because of Bengi's birthday because they will laugh at you" Is there any problem with that???? I mean, I'm not gonna just let them come in and not tell them why I'm doing it, right? Otherwise I'll tell them not to come! Then, she asks me if she should bring something (like a side or dessert), so I tell her no, but it would be nice if she could bring a little something for Bengi. So, she goes, what???? and laughs! I mean, I think she'll spend less if she buys a little toy or something than if she has to prepare some food to bring along! My mom loves Bengi, and she takes care of them a few times a week when I'm at work, but I don't get why she reacts like this with this type of stuff. Same with my uncle, excepts that he doesn't even like him. They think I'm exaggerating too much with him. They don't understand he's special to me!!! I don't care what they think! but if they are not going to celebrate his birthday, I don't think I would want them to come... Sorry guys, I needed to vent... |

| Aww, don't let it get to you. No reason you shouldn't celebrate and they'll jump on the bandwagon eventually. Just plan on having a good time with your baby

| Ah.... I can understand your frustration and excitement. I hope everyone has a good time at Bengi's lst Birthday party. Some people just don't get how very special these guys are to us. Maybe next year you can have a party for Bengi, that only includes dog lovers. If I forget to post on Bengi's special day, tell him " Happy lst Birthday" from us.

| LoL....I know the feeling! I always have my girls dreesed to the nines when we go out so anytime most of family sees us all they see is the yorkies dressed better than most of the kids in the family....I sure don't sit around at home and keep the dressed, but I think they think I do. I throw BIG parties for mine...I mean I air brush their cakes, everything you would see at a kids party I do. I just bake the cake to from a doggie recipe and then I use whatever theme I want for the cake kit. One year my cousin was having her son's party at a park and begged me to come, but it was the same day as my yorkie so I brought her cake to the park and I think all the nay sayers ended up having more fun with the yorkie party. So, Just have a good time and the ones who to join will. They will get use to you maybe :>) Angie |

| If I were you I wouldn't have a party, instead of paying all that money for food (which he can't eat) take him somewhere special that he would like and enjoy, like the park or something and let him spend the day there or/and take him to the pet store and buy him some new stuff, beats spending money on people food when they don't even appreciate it his birthday, when you can spend it all on him afterall it is HIS birthday .. P.S. I know at my local pet store they sell birthday doggie cookies and cakes, maybe you can buy him one of those and let him enjoy his day.

| Unless someone is a true dog lover like yourself (and us), then they won't really be able to understand why we throw parties for our furbabies. I know when I threw Lily her Puppy Shower, some people thought I was crazy, but I did it anyway and I ended up getting lots of support from my friends. I think you should throw the party if you really want to, but just do it for yourself and your doggie. You really can't blame them for not understanding... I mean, some people just don't get it! The other idea that was thrown out of taking your dog to a park instead is a good idea if you really do feel down about everyone not liking the puppy bday party idea.... But, you do what you feel is right for YOU.

| Totally understand. My mom is the same way. She likes dogs and animals; she's just not a dog lover. Dad's far more into animals than she is, but even he kinda looks at me like I'm crazy about the dogs. Like during our Easter Egg hunt at my parent's house. We brought the dogs along also, this isn't unusual the dogs go pretty much on all family outings. But then I was taking pictures of the kids and when the kids were done I was taking some of the dog playing. Dad was like, "Of course, she's taking pictures of the dogs instead of the kids." This was totally untrue, I'd already gone through 2 rolls of film of the kids finding easter eggs, (also hubby had the video camera set up, as well as taking some pics with the digital camera)Also I was taking these pictures of the pups while my children were headed in to the house to go through their 'booty'. Anyway, I can relate. . . Just have fun, and don't pay attention to the critisim. There are much worse interests than your dogs.

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | thanks everydoby for your ideas. Tomorrow we will have a party after all. Candybaby's idea was good, but I actually didn't spend too much on food, and I did get Bengi good presents. I hope everything goes smooth and we have lots of fun. I baked a cake for him today and the special ingredient is kisses & love. I'll post pictures tomorrow!!! |

| I don't see anything wrong with that. My friend has a b-day party for her yorkie every year. Its fun, just when people don't have furbabies or they have skinkids they just don't get it.

| I'd have his birthday party, let him enjoy his cake and presents and focus on him. It's ok if other ppl don't get why we love these babies so much but the first person that shows up without a gift I'd bite them on the leg.

| Ahh... don't let it bother you. I have a confession to make. Before I had Yorkies I would have laughed at a doggie party too. Clothes for dogs -- not me! Hundreds of dollars for carriers, toys, beds, etc. -- not me! LOL! Then along came the sweetest dogs in all the world who live to be loved and all that changed. Both my husband and I spoil them to extremes but I won't expect everyone to understand. If they haven't had a Yorkie yet, they just don't know the secret. But don't get peeved at them. Just smile and be content that you do know! As far as the party -- have it if you want. But if everyone does not celebrate it with the same devotion as you, don't worry -- Benji will not care as long as he gets some attention and treats!
