| YT ever been scammed? Has this ever happened here? Someone joins to get sympathy, talks about sick or injured Yorkie they have. Trying to get people to send money, when in actuality it's all a scam. I just watched a program on TV about scammers in newspapers & they are moving to the internet. People are falling for it all the time & sending money. Just wondering in this site has ever been taken advantage of.

| I think its happened a couple times...but I think technically people aren't allowed to ask for money on YT to prevent that from happening. |

| good point. I was recently wondering the same thing. I can certainly see the potential for it. Particularly with those of us who are on Yorkie or other forums and we believe one of the little ones we love are in pain or danger. It could be easy to pull at heartstrings and have a person worried sick over a puppy that doesn't even exist. I guess this would be a good reminder for me to remember not to get caught up in one and send any money. The scammers are only in control if I write the checks.

| It has happened on here. However, YTer's are pretty good detectives, and they get to asking questions and looking through old threads and the scammer usually just diasappears. Poof!! Gone!! A few have gotten mad and very defensive, and then abusive and are politely escorted off the site by Admin. |

| Well first of all, who would donate to a new person that just comes on to ask for money? I doubt that will happen, and I think there has been donations to YT members on here that were well known enough to know that it was not a scam.. I think there were a couple scams that happened in the past from what I heard.. I Hope there wont be any more scams but im pretty sure it wont happen because most everyone on here can sense a scam quick and alert others! |

| When I first joined it seemed like one scammer was just taking a hike. I don't remember all the particulars, but she supposedly had money woes and was going to sell Yorkie treats to raise money. Then some of the more generous members even sent donations. In the end, if I remember reading correctly, no one even got the doggy treats they ordered from her. She was going to lose her house or something catastrophic. Sad, but so many wonderful people here it seemed wanted to help her out when all she was doing was scamming - or so it seemed from what I read. You can never be to careful, but you also need to not be to careful. Does that make sense? LOL

| Oh, and there is a thread going on right now under the Yorkie stuff for sale. Someone was selling all kinds of Yorkie clothes. Sold most of it. Now over a month later hasn't sent anything out, yet still is a member and just logged on I believe yest. No they didn't log on to give an explanation on why they took everyone's money and sent nothing in return. Seems like another scammer in the making.

| This has happened several times on a glass site I belong to. Sometimes desperate people do desperate things and it has happened there even though the individuals were well known and on the site a long time. I think it happens because we tend to think all people are like us. We think they live like us and trust them. I've learned my lesson at least three times!! lol. ann |

Mom to Marty & Maddie Donating Member | I haven't personally been scammed, but I know of a few people who have...it wasn't about sick dogs but other "off-topic" stuff. Unfortunately, someone will always try to use a good thing to get money from honest people... |
