| So they arent dogs anymore?! I went to petsmart a while back, and there was a lady with a lil cockapoo puppy , i went up and asked if i could pet her, and the dog was so sweet and all i said was "omg you have such a cute dog" and she looks at me like im crazy and sais "shes not a DOG you know! shes part of the family!" and she put finger air quotes around dog like i said something completely absurd, and then she marches off all mad. yes, i understand that dogs are family and your babies.. but arent they still dogs? If i would've called her dog a mutt or something disrespectful, i would've expected an attitude. I love dogs, and i know that when i get mine im gonna love dressing her up and caring for her and she will be my baby . but she will still be a dog. does calling her a dog mean i will love her any less? i don't think so. whats ur opinion? |

| "people" like that don't deserve a "dog", she obviously is delusional. I would have said the same thing you said about an adorable dog. |

| I think that woman was a little uppity. I call mine babies and sometimes I call them dogs but i would never get mad if someone called them dogs

| That's just silly! Of course we love them like they are a part of the family, but they are still dogs and we are still humans and fish are still fish and birds are still birds and so on and so on. I mean, comeoooon, "dog" is just a term for the type of animal it is, not a dirty word! |

| That is a bit extreme. A lot of people are a bit too defensive. It is not like you said Can I pet "it" or "that thing." Sorry you had to deal with someone like that. |

| I think I would have done a eye roll and muttered "weirdo" under my breath, just loud enough so that she could hear me. LOL Of course they are dogs. My kittens are cats, my children are my children, my husband is......well, that's another story. LOL

| I think of my dogs as children also and spoil them like crazy, but there's no way I would get offended by someone calling them dogs. They are dogs...

| I would have said, "She's a dog all right, her mother is a b****!" Okay, I really wouldn't have said it but I would have thought it.
