| Why Drinking Water Is So Important Someone emailed this to me yesterday and I wanted to pass it on. I'm definately going to start drinking more water after reading this. WATER 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. (This likely applies to half the world population.) In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3%. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied (in a University of Washington study). Lack of water is the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue. Preliminary research indicates that 8 to 10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer.

COKE In many states the highway patrol carries two gallons of Coke in the trunk to remove blood from the highway after a car accident. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of Coke and it will be gone in two days. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous china. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion. To loosen a rusted bolt: Applying a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake. Thirty minutes before the ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy. To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of Coke into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains. Coke will also clean road haze from your windshield.

| TRUE, TRUE, all TRUE! Its insane how dehydraded we all are! Its one of the reasons hubby and I eat raw... the water content of cooked food is so depleated.. Fruits and veggies are so high in water! But when cooked we dehydrate them! And when we eat the processed food we dehydrate ourselves! So everytime you eat a processed meal...drink twice as much water because you need to rehydrate the meal and get your water! I finally have my daughter in the habit of drinking a 16oz bottle of water with her lunch at school and choosing fresh fruit as her side. That pre-teen acne she started to devlope is GONE, and her skin just glows now! Its cause she's hydrated! She drinks water with every meal here at home as well.. I buy cases weekly at the store cause we go through a ton! Crystal Gyser is my favorite brand.

| I'm diabetic & I was talking to my diabetes nurse and asked her about being thirsty all of the time. She said that's it's very important for diabetics to drink 8 glasses of water every day and to keep hydrated. I have felt alot better since I've been making an effort to drink my water every day. Better than a pill!!!!!

| This week end I came across this article by Prevention mag. ..I was a bit surprised by it. (August 2004)--From cabbage soup to South Beach, popular diets agree on one thing: Water helps weight loss. To put this long-standing claim to the test, researchers in Germany measured the resting metabolism of 14 men and women before and after they drank just over 16 ounces of water. Within 10 minutes, metabolism began to rise. After 40 minutes, the volunteers' average calorie-burning rate was 30 percent higher, and it stayed elevated for more than an hour. Researchers don't understand why, but they calculate that drinking eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day--the generally recommended amount--can burn off almost 35,000 calories a year, or about 10 pounds. How much water you should add to your diet depends on your current consumption, says researcher Jens Jordan, MD. Consuming a total of 8 to 12 cups daily is safe, he says, and cool water works best because part of the increased calorie burn occurs as the body warms the liquid to body temperature.

| I don't know who is responsible for this research and how it was compiled, but in either case, I think I'm GOLDEN then. lol Since being pregnant, I have a gallon jug of cold water at my disposal at all times-literally. I drink about one of those a day and at most it'll last me into the wee hours of the next morning, but then I'm on to my next jug. |
