| Wasn't Sure if You Would be Interested in Ryoko's Story I was on my way to work stuck in a long line of traffic over the bridge that crosses over the 340 south bypass beneath it. When I saw someone in another lane roll down their window and throw something out of their car and onto the pavement. The light had turned green and everybody was moving again. The little black ball of fuzz shot between several moving vehicles and then bolted for the edge of the concrete wall of the bridge. By which time I had already burned rubber and killed my breaks and was out of the car and running for that kitten in record time (especially for someone of my exercise level or rather lack there of) When I reached her she was hanging on the edge of the bridge and staring straight off the ledge into traffic traveling 60mphs about lord knows how many 100's of feet down. It almost seemed like she couldn't decide which was scarier, the cars zooming behind her or the drop from this bridge. Well when she chose to jump from the bridge I grabbed the scruff of neck, grabbed her bottom in my other hand and just started running back for my car. She was raising hell once I let her go in the car and had scratched me A LOT lol but hey the fuzzy was safe. Once at the facility the director determined that she was a feral kitten and totally unsociable but I didn't believe it. So everyday she was in ISO I spent time petting and talking to her until she finally began accepting my presence. I named her Ryoko after a cartoon character I really like because of her strength and ability to handle any situation that's thrown at her. I wanted her to have a powerful name to help her cope with her rough beginning. Her accident left her with some abrasians and some mouth issues but she was all in all one lucky little girl. She was adopted by one of my co-workers Cathy and is being spoiled beyond belief! I couldn't be happier for her. When I found her she was aged at 10wks of age and is now a healthy 6 month old wild woman! As you can see in her pictures I have been wanting to share this story with you guys for a while but didn't think you would be interested in the rescueing (sp) of cats. So after it was published and sent out I figured I would go on ahead and share it with you. The pic is an article that is being sent nationwide to National Humane Education Societys supporters. It tells about her bad experiences and about how their kind donations are what got her medical treatment and a new wonderful home! (she is now known as Sophie in her new adopted home ) Hope you guys enjoy!

| What a lucky little girl she was that you were there at that time. And that you believed in her enough to tame her. Now she's living a life she never knew existed. Thanks for being her guardian angel AND for sharing. (I am a cat-lover, too).

| It's just lucky that I'm a part of such a wonderful organization where we were able to find her a great home. If anyone was ever inerested here is the NHES.org (The National Humane Education Society) website and the BAACS.org (Briggs Animal Adoption Center in Charles Town where I work) website our the PPASNY.org (Peace Plantation in New York). Many months before Ryoko, I was also able to save a small orange tabby kitten I later named George, off the side of a busy back road at a blind curve (of all places) where he had obviously just been tossed out of a car. He was sprawled on the road, looking totally dazed, screaming and what really gave it away was it was pouring rain but he was totally dry.. It doesn't take a genius to figure this one out. But all I had to do was stop my car, open my door and call 'kitty kitty kitty' and that little fuzzy shot like a rocket into my car and onto my boyfriends lap. (he could have killed me) He was such a wonderful cat that he barely made it out of Iso and was in the transition room when he was competed for by 3 familys and one of our donators. George was our fasted cat adoption in the entire history of Briggs Animal Adoption Center. (we opened in 2000) He is now a HUGE orange tabby tom cat and owns a big house, a mom, a dad and a handful of kids. God sure works in mysterious ways and with these fuzzies I know it was meant to be for them. And it was a win win situation for us both. They got a new shot at a better life and I in turn was given a purpose and the reward of getting to see them in loving homes. *sigh* I appologize in advance for the male nudity in the pictures w/ George.. Sorry, we were on our way home from kayaking.. *sigh*

| Bless your heart for saving that kitty! I can't understand how a person can throw a living animal out their car window, but thank goodness there's people like you to rescue them. Thanks for sharing the story!
