| Lent anyone? Does anyone else give something up for Lent? i woudln't say we are a terribly religious family, but since i was little i can remember my mother and i (my dad isn't catholic) giving up someting for lent. IT is in 7 DAYS!!!!!!! this year my mom is giving up her diet coke (she has at least one a day ) and per usual i'm giving up my beloved candy and chocolate... ice cream... fast food... donuts... it's a tough 40 days but boy am i happy on easter morning! so anyone else out there giving something up?? (by the way.. for those that are... did you know that Sunday is a day when you can have whatever you gave up for lent??? lent is 40 days.. and if you count from ash wednesday to easter sunday, NOT counting sundays... it's 40 days!! something to help you get through it ) |

| I kind-of got out of the habit of giving up something. Instead, I try to do extra special good deeds during this time. BTW, Lent officially ends on Good Friday and you are correct, Sundays are "free" days!!

| I've never actually counted, but that is what our Priest told us last Easter season - Lent officially ends with Good Friday.

| As a kid, we always did this. Haven't for a long time, but its a good exercise in self discipline
