| E-Filing your Taxes?? I have been e-filing thru turbo tax for the past few years & love it, its easy, more deductions, cheaper & I get more back $$. I used http://www.freetaxusa.com this year Only $9.95 to e-file fed & state plus direct deposit. I am a little more confident after e-filing a few years. You can go thru all the way to the end & see the results before paying a dime or sending the return, if you dont like the results just log out & forget it, but I am always extremely happy with my results & have gotten the money in my account in usually w/in a week. I dont make any commision for telling you this, I just thought I would share that for the average W-2 1040 filing family this is a great way to go- no appointments, just go to the website, no one waiting for you to find info, work at your own pace. Anyone else E-File? |

No Longer a Member | I e-file thru TurboTax.com. If you make less than 36,000 it's free. Also something new I came across this year is the W5. May not be new I'm just finding out about it. Anyway, both my kids are grown (23 and 24) and both dissabled so we are elligable for the earned income when I file. The W5 allows you to get your earned income divided thoughout the year on your paychecks. I asked for it at work and only had two boxes to check and sign. Thats it. This is going to be very helpful to us. Didn't mean to hijack your thread, thought it might help someone also. |

| Taxes Another great site is www.taxact.com. You can e-file your federal and state returns for $15.95, and like the other site mentioned in the previous post you can prepare and review the returns before e-filing without paying a dime. You may also choose the option to prepare and file your federal return at no charge. Happy filing!!!! |

| I E-file with taxact also - but Texas doesn't do state taxes. I think it's only 9.99 for the federal alone on taxact.

No Longer a Member | I've used the Turbo Tax for 4 years now. It keeps up with each years return for you and also automatically inserts your personal info so you don't have to go thru it all each time. At any time you can sign on to the sight and print up your choice of which years Taxes and print it out. I thought this was cool, I don't have to keep up with anything. |

I Love My Lil' Punkin's Donating Member | Yep, we also do them ourselves and e-file through TurboTax In fact, that's exactly what we have been doing all day today - it takes us a little longer though as we have an in-home business so things are ALOT more complicated and there is alot more involved

| Ours have been excepted by the IRS, now waiting direct deposit return at no additional cost. Everything for $9.95, Everything!! I will let you all know when we get our $. I had to resubmit the return 2/4 because of the new tax laws. They gave alternative heat breaks & sales tax break, I was shocked but happy. |

| I go through H&R on line, I can't remember if it was $9.95 or $19.95, but it was fast and easy. I filed early because I got my W2 early, I had my return in less then 2 weeks. Cha ching!!

| If you were married in 2006 then you need to file at least married and seperate, but as far as I am concerned my hubby and I come out better if we file jointly. If you married in 2007 you will have to file single for 2006. You are allowed certain tax breaks if you file married and jointly that would not be afforded to you if you file married and seperate. The best way is to have the software calculate the return both ways and view each outcome. If you are completely uncomfortable filing online go back to your tax professional, but TaxAct, TurboTax, and H&R Block's tax preparation software asked all the questions you need. Most of the tax prep sites offer online help, but you can always go to www.irs.gov and search for answers to any question you may have pertaining to your tax questions. I hope this helps somewhat!! |
