| Yes. Don't try and force it to see if it will move. It may be a muscle spasm. Just check it out with the dr. Till then you might want to try short periods of ice on the back of your neck. My Dr told me the old joke: if it hurts don't do that! or don't try and keep moving it if it doesn't want to move. Try to relax...like that's easy to do. I'm the Queen of muscle spasms and sliding vertebrae.

| Daisymae06, I'm sorry to hear you are in pain. I know that pain. I have rheumatoid arthritis in most and osteo in some of my joints. This has happened to me before. Interesting that it would be when you are stepping from the shower. It has happened for me then too. It must be just the way we turn to lift our bodies over the tub or reaching a little extra for the towel. For me, some moist heat and rest for the hurting part helps. Take some NSAIDs if you can. I turn my heating pad up and put a hot moist hand towel over the owie, lay a plastic bag over the towel and put the heating pad over that. It you can stand to lay on the heating pad, you will get more comfort from the heat. The big thing is to use the injured joint as little as possible until is settles down. Hope this helps you. You may want to call your Dr. too and let him know this happened if you are scheduled for surgery soon. Otherwise, it could probably wait 'til your next appointment or telephone call. But if it doesn't get at least some better in a day, I would certainly call him. Hope you feel better soon! |

| Oh you poor thing. I know that pain. I hope you can get relief soon. I also have authritis in my shoulders. I thought I broke my collar bone last year the pain was so bad. First time I ever experienced it. Went for xrays and it was authritis. He gave me anti inflamatory meds. I was in pain for months. It kicks up once in awhile and I can't raise my arms very high! For me only heat works. Please feel better soon. I do hope the pain subsides. Carol & Buddy |

| I'm so sorry you are in so much pain and are unable to move. That same thing happened to my friend's husband. He has a herniated disc in his neck/upper back and a sneeze could affect him in that way. I also have 2 bulging discs in my lower back and a sneeze or cough does the same thing to me--pain just shoots down my hip and near my butt. One of the bulges I thing is pressing on my sciatic nerve. Anyway, I hope that your doctor will be able to help you and give you something to alleviate the the pain. None of the drugs mentioned above worked for me. Flexeril and Darvocet did nothing for the pain--just knocked me out--and over the counter drugs did nothing. Vicodin works well and it doesn't make me tired--just deadens the pain a bit--but it wears off fast. I hope you find relief soon

| OK I'm back... No magic button was pushed to make me better. he said I twisted my neck (torticollis). and gave me hydrcodine and valum and said to ice it and rest. I feel so bad for missing work. And my daughter is so worrried about me she called from school to see how I was. Thanks for all your advice and support. now I just hope the meds help a little. |
