| I have a 16 year old who is also trying to decide what to do for a job since her babysitting days are about over. I asked her to write a list of the things she likes to do...read, write, movies, clothes, drama, etc I then told her to write her skills, experience and certifications down..typing,CPR, Babysitting, Computers, etc. How often she can work, so it won't interfere with school and sports. She is looking around our area for job opportunities. I told her to try and find something that would be of interest to her. She is thinking of applying at a hospital down the street from us as a jr aide. She is thinking about being a nurse and wants to see if this is really what she wants to do. Good Luck..

| A good place to start (IMO) is retail. You get cash handling experience, sales experience, data processing experience, plus everything else that goes along with retail. Most retail stores will hire an inexperienced worker, and plus if you pick a place you like, you'll get a discount! I worked seasonal at a fave store of mine and got 55% off! |

| My 16 year old daughter started out by sacking groceries in a grocery store and in a few weeks was running the cash register and checking people out. It wasn't her favorite job, but she didn't mind it and she worked there for a couple of years.

| I would like that sort of place! Grocery stores are another option. One of my sons got a job at the local canoe place. He worked there part time all during high school and 2 years of junior college and loved it. They had so much fun out there on the river. The fast food places are always hiring, not sure if that appeals to you. I worked in a restaurant in high school, first in the kitchen but quickly moved to waitressing -- much better and the tips were good!

| When I was 16 I started working as a cashier at Target, and worked there till I graduated and left for college. They were great, and very flexible about working around my other commitments. |
