| Yay! Congrats! I had my braces for about 1 1/2 years. One of the first things I wanted to do is bite into a whole apple! I bet your teeth are gorgeous. |

| That's great!!!!!!!!! I bet there beautiful!! That's something that will last a lifetime!............ I had to wait til I was 26 before I got mine & I didn't mind wearing them at all.......... I'm a diet pop fanatic, I didn't want the pop touching my teeth, so when I drank it I always drank thru a straw...I also couldn't eat sweet corn w/ braces on so I had to cut it off & eat it w/ a fork. Twenty years later & I still use a straw & still cut the corn off

| First of all, CONGRATS!! I know it's a big deal. I may be 35 years old now but I remember when I was 15 and got mine off..... the best day in the world!! Question for you.... you said it took a while to get them off? How long did it take? My 12 year old daughter is getting hers off in a couple weeks and I wanted to try to plan the afternoon. She is SO excited too! It's been a little over a year and a half for her but it really did fly by. I think it helped that she really looked good with them on. Sometimes kids can look a bit awkward with them but it was almost like hers weren't that noticeable. Again, Congrats!!

| I bet your teeth look gorgeous. My Son wore braces for two years and when he got them off he had the most beautiful teeth. I know My Daughter is going to need them too

| That's awesome! If your ortho gave you a retainer be sure to wear it!!! I didn't and my bottom teeth became a little crooked again. |

| Oh yeah, that's another thing.... the dreaded retainer!! Back "in the day", it was no suprise to see some poor guy/girl digging in the lunchroom trash because they accidentally threw away their retainer that was wrapped in a napkin while they ate. The retainers we had back then were gross! I hear they've changed now so I can't wait to see the one my daughter gets in a few weeks. I still actually have my bottom permanent retainer (yes, I'm 35!). It's just a wire glued onto two of the teeth (behind them). My dentist tells me that we might as well leave it in as long as it wants to be there. I'm so used to it that I think I would actually have more issues with it out than right where it is. It's a bit of a pain when I go for teeth cleanings because the hygenist has to scrape around those contacts but since I go every 6 months religously, it's manageable. Can't wait to see the new type of top retainer though!

| Ahhh braces... I had them for 2 years and got them off when I was 15. I remember constantly running my tongue over them because they felt so smooth - it was unreal. Definitely wear your retainer as much as you can - I only wore mine for a year or so after they came off (only to bed), then it became less and less frequent. They say you should always put it in once in a while - I'm 26 now and the stupid thing no longer fits, meaning my teeth have shifted quite a bit. They still look nice and straight, but they do continue to move as you age. My bottom teeth are trying to move, but I still have that metal retainer cemented to the back of them. Looks like I may have it for the rest of my life... I haven't seen my ortho in at least 6 years. Congrats on the 'new' smile!

it took a little more than an hour but it was in the middle of the day so it would have been pointless to go to school a hour inthe morning and an hour after lol

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | You're SO lucky!!!! I've had my braces 3 years on the 20th, and I still don't know when (if) I'm going to get them off!
