Question Tofu....anyone??

I had bought some Tofu before the snow/ice hit and I am wanting to make something with it today. There are soooo many recipes out there - I have searched online for a long time - whew -

Does anyone have any tried and true (yummy) recipes that uses Tofu?

Looking for a good healthy and yummy one - I have Firm Tofu.

Thanks so much!

Let me know how it turns out and what recipe you used. I'm a vegetarian and I've tried to make a Tofu dish many times. But it never turns out. I just don't like the taste of it.

I just read on several sites that tofu doesn't "taste" - it is how you cook it and what spices are soaked into it that gives it the taste???

Says "No one can say tofu tastes bad - it simply has no taste at all. Tofu takes on the flavors of whatever spices or flavorings you use with it. In fact, a good rule of thumb is to increase spices and seasonings by one-half whenever using tofu."

I don't know though, this is my first time to buy any. I guess I will find out though!

A couple of good dog recipe books are *Real Food For Dogs* by Arden Moore & Ann Davis

*Barkers Grub* by Rudy Edalati

Here are a couple of nice recipes:

This is absolutely true - it absorbs whatever spices/sauce/seasoning that you cook it in. I love it in Chinese dishes - but I'm not much of a cook, so I don't have any recipes!

I don't really have recipes, I use it in place of meat. Like in spaghetti, I use it instead of hamburger, it absorbs the tomato sauce. I love it in chinese dishes with lots of veggies and a good sauce.

I don't think the original request was for dog recipes - but someone posted a link to some doggie dishes, I think!

Do you crumble it up for those dishes? I found a recipe for one that had ADD to beef for enchiladas - but I didn't know how "healthy" that would make it?

yum, I love Tofu, I like it plain warmed up with soy sauce. But I prefer the soft form of tofu.

Have you tried the flavor kind of tofu. They sell them at most groceries like Trader Joe's has some. I slice it up , put it in my salad, and yummy!

Try stir frying the firm form of tofu with fresh veggies and add tons of flavor since it's quite bland on it's own. also try www.foodnetwork.com maybe they might have recipes

Keep in mind, it's one of those foods that you grow to like. I grew up with it so it's yummy to me, my hubby didn't. He absolutely hated it the first few times, then it got tolerable, then now he doesn't mind eating it. hopefully we will get to the love stage.

I LOVE Tofu and eat it all the time in salads but my favorite is to stir fry it with vegetables, soy sauce and teriyaki sauce. Now I'm hungry!

I know a lot of people that really don't like it because of the texture but I love it

I read your post and the first thing that came to my mind was yuck! I went to Japan a couple of years ago and one of the places that we went to was a tofu house. They had something like 30 different tofu meals. Since, there was a bunch of us we ordered a lot of different ones and passed them around. I couldn't find any that I really liked.

Just thought I'd throw in the doggie recipes too. I sometimes scramble eggs and tofu together for my girls, and I will put some in their veggies.
