| My 13 year old gets migraines and we discovered that if he eats too much dairy products it will send him into one. Ice on his head helps alot and he takes meds to help everyday with the migraines. I hope you find something to help you.

Oh poor thing, they must bother him a lot. I haven't really gotten migraines but I had a friend that used to get them really bad and he couldn't even look at the light sometimes. I wish I knew some natural remedies to do..I guess I get them if I don't get the right sleep I need or if I'm hungry but I'm neither of those now and I have one..

Well Idk if they are migraines because I don't know what the feeling is, what's the diff. between the 2. I've always gotten headaches growing up. My mom is worried because when I was 8 I went sledding and slammed into a tree and I was knocked out for a couple of min. I then got up like nothing happened but I hit my head hard.

| sometimes they are so bad he gets sick, and light is a bad thing I hate to see him cry and I can't do a thing. He takes a herbal product called migra solve and now he gets mild headaches but if he has say ceral for b-fast and then pizza at lunch he could get one, he is only allowed 1 dairy product a day to keep him migraine free but he knows his bounderys and if he crosses the line he has to pay for that. It's hard to say you can't have the mac n cheese tonight you had the milk at lunch. He has suffered since he was 8 and it was terriable until we fianlly figured out what it was it was a process of elimaition. We even seen chriopractors to help.

No Longer a Member | My daughter has had migraines since she was in a car when it flipped and her head burried in the dome light in the ceiling. Pain meds do not affect them and meds such as Imitrex only make her heart race. We have come upon Midrin a script med, it doesn't kill it..but takes the edge off. |

My furkids Donating Member | I have a good friend that gets migraines....she has to be in a dark room and will vomit...she gives herself shots when she feels one coming on....If you think they are migraines you should see a doctor. If not then try aleve..I hear this is supposed to be good...or ,as someone here said, try the Excedrin for migraine...I have heard this works well also...be careful with tylenol...you don't want to take to much of it...It can affect you liver.... take care and I hope you are feeling better. Peeka Boo I See You! Donating Member | I get really bad migraines to they are so bad sometimes that i have to go to the emergency room for a cocktail shot(which never helps the pain but puts me to sleep) I get very sick to my stomach and if i move i throw up and light kills me when i have one also sound is so intense. i had one really bad once i thought i was having a stroke my whole arm and one side of my face went numb and my vision went blurry it scared the crap out of me. I find if i take ibuprofen right as i feel it coming on and go take a nap they will go away but if i wait to long i get hit hard. The best tip i have is if you can't get rid of it take an ice pack and put it right at the base of your head/neck and lay down this has helped me so many times when nothing else worked. Also if you getting them often see a doctor. I get them sometimes for days the longest one i had i had it for 5 days until i found the icepack trick good luck PS migraines are caused from the blood vessels swelling at the base of your skull

| It could be migraines, it could also be TMJ. I have incapacitating TMJ headaches and nothing but sleep and muscle relaxants come close to helping those. Please see your GP and your dentist and find the cause of the headaches. The cause will lead you to the most effective treatment.

Common is severe pain, sensitivity to light and sound, nausea. Classic is all of the above, with the added lovely bonus of a pre-migraine aura. I have the classic. I see squiggles in my vision, or extremities get numb for about 30min prior to the actual migraine. THEN the pain hits. They are not as bad as my earlier years, when I did have to go to ER for a shot to break the pain cycle. Although, I've just come out of a 9-dayer that I thought I might have to get that done. I've tried imitrex, but my family must have a pre-desposed sensitivity to that, as it made me have double auras (Oh! what FUN! lol), and my neuro told me to stop! immediately before I stroked out. And, my sister had one of those "rare, but possible heart attacks" warned of in the infommercial. Midrin does nothing for my pain. I choose not to take prescription narcotics, as it's so easy to get into trouble with those. NOT to say I won't - but, I've "been there, done that" and don't want to go through that again! Find a good neuro, that can monitor the headaches. One that won't just shove pain meds at you.

| Excederine is the only thing that works on my headaches. Sometime I get really bad make me sick ones, I suspect mild migraines although I've never formally been diagnosed. I use an ice pack. Hurts like the bejeebies, but if you can leave it on there long enough it goes away. I'm like put it on, pain pain pain (like a brain freeze), take it off, recover, put it on, etc, I do this a few times and then just totally rest/relax for a bit and it's gone. I think the combination of cold and pain shocks water blood flow is causing the headache pain and it goes away.

Lovin' 2 Girls Donating Member | Amber ~ please seek a neurologist. They're not all monsters . There are many meds out today that might work for you. I'm on one prophylactic that does at least keep the auras at bay and the pain manageable. But, I had to go through several to find something that was right for me.
