| The Legend Lives On! The legend of the dragonfly is that the tiny little dragonfly larvae are beneath the water and wondering why their siblings are never seen again as they travel up the stems of water plants. They make a pact to return and tell the others what becomes of them when their turn to climb the stems come. The first larvae to climb after the pact, finds he undergoes a magical transformation and becomes a beautiful dragonfly with shimmering color and strong wings. He flies valiantly back and forth above the water but he cannot get the attention of those beneath the surface. Then he realizes even if they see him, they will not recognize him as the wriggly little thing that climbed the stem. The parallel is drawn that it is the same as those who preceed us in death -- just because we cannot see them or recognize them in their transformation, does not mean they are not there somewhere above, able to see us.
