| New Year's eve/day superstitions? I've always been told that whatever you do on the first day of the new year will set the pattern for the rest of your year and if you do laundry or housework on that day you will always be behind. So, the last load is in the washer right now, the house is cleaned and the boyz are heading for a bath shortly. I figure if I get everything done tonight I can goof off tomorrow...maybe that will mean the new year will hold nothing but fun for me? I guess I can always hope! Oh...and aren't you supposed to eat cabbage and blackeyed peas to bring you good fortune? Well...if it will get me that winning lottery ticket...I'm game! How about you? What are some of your superstitions for the New Year? |

| That funny. I have 2 loads to go. I had a dream last night I had to wash the floors. So, I got up bright and early to get everything done. |

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | I was always told you dont' enter the new year with a dirty house or dirty laundry...supposedly it brings the old bad into the new year. So I have been up early cleaning and I am down to my last load and a half....got to get it all done. I have always followed this tradition since I move out on my own when I was 17. My husband thinks I am nuts but I can see where it makes a fresh start for the new year. My babies even got their new years bath. Sunday is normally my regular bathing and grooming day for them anyhow but today was a must being as they will start the new year smelling fresh

| We used to eat the corned beef and cabbage and black eyed peas when My Husbands dad was alive. He always cooked a dime in the cabbage for wealth. I hate corned beef so now we cook prime rib

| Katys mom...did you get that laundry done? And, how about those floors?? Bissymammabee...that makes sense! My boyz will start the new year 'fresh' too! chachi...a dime? I never heard that one. txshopper73...spoil yourself, have a good day and make some sweet conrbread and fresh butter with those greens and blackeyed peas! Karen...you have a lot of work to do girl...get busy! I have everything done and I'm having my lo-carb chocolate fudge ice cream...I'm going to snuggle with my boyz in their freshly laundered, toasty warm blanket and watch a little t.v. and we'll all probably be asleep when the new year arrives! Happy New Year everyone! |

| I don't have any new years superstitions or anything, but I sure enjoyed reading this post! Thank you everyone for sharing your way of bringing in the new year! I like the idea of having the house all clean before the new year...like it is a clean slate and you are starting fresh!
