| Anyone want to join me? Low carbing anyone? I lost 32 pounds doing a low carb diet since october. I took a break through the holidays and managed to keep it all off. Now I'm going for the next 30! I started a low carb diet again today...anyone want to join me? I'd love some low carb friends. BTW, if anyone remembers, my husband and I started dieting together in october. Well my husband not only looks soooo good now BUT he has managed to completely rid himself of diabetes and high blood pressure. I am so ecstatic for him, I have been so worried about his health. He has been weight lifting and has become quite obsessed with exercising (I wish I could be more like that ) It's amazing what 3 months and 30 pounds did for his health! | Wow! That's amazing!! I could go for a little diet change, I am going to start the Raw Foods diet, Kathryn had mentioned it before... We'll see how that goes, if it doesn't go well, I might try a low carb diet.

| I started a low-carb change Christmas morning...yes, on Christmas! All the holiday food was out of the way so what better time to start?! I did low-carb a few years ago and I got back into a size 6 in just 2 months, I felt so good but the mistake I made was going back to regular food once I lost the weight. There were a few things that got in my way and at the time it was easier to just eat rather than think about what I was eating so...back came my weight. Oh, and that's when we had that accident and I couldn't walk 5 miles a day for a loooong time so that didn't help either. This time I have a new approach to it all...I'll low-carb to lose the weight and then keep better track after it's gone to keep it off. I don't want to stay low-carb forever though...I'd love to be vegetarian but my husband won't give up his meat and that makes it hard. I only want to lose 20 to 25 pounds...depending on how I feel...so it shouldn't take long. Thank God for low-carb ice cream!! I'm gonna blossom out in the spring like a daisy...wearin' new (smaller!)shorts...no more winter thighs for me! |

| A few years ago I lost so much weight on the low carb diet. I did the South Beach Diet. I went from 243 lbs down to 187 lbs, but gained most of it back. Unless you eat the low carb way for life, it will come back on. I'm getting ready to try the Weight Watchers point system. I started it a few months back, but with school starting, holidays approaching, I didn't do very well. I'm ready now....so I'll see how it goes. Good luck to those trying the low carb....I hope it works for you.

| My sister in law took off her weight with low carb and then maintained it with weightwatchers. It's been 3 years and she looks fabulous. I have the same plan in mind. I took 2 weeks off low carb this month and did the weightwatchers point system. The weight stayed off and I felt like I was eating a lot, so I have high hopes with my plan. I realize I can never eat the same way that got me overweight in the first place. |

The weightwatchers point system is great too! It really teaches how to eat in healthy portions. That is the hardest thing for me to do. | |

| I don't know if mine is so much portion control because I really don't eat all that much and I don't snack. I think a lot of mine is simple lack of excersize! When I did Atkin's before I lost the weight so easily and it was fun to get on the scales, to fit into my favorite clothes again and to feel so great. I used to walk 5 miles every day with my husband but after our accident he ended up with a bleeding ulcer that about killed him, then a heart condition and now he's recuperating from knee surgery so walking is out for a while. I do plan to walk this spring though...we just bought this house and there's a walking path in front of our house along the lake and through the park so it's perfect...maybe he'll be ready by then. Can I buy WW books somewhere or do I have to join? |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I want to join you !! I made up for 3 months of dieting & losing 15 lbs by eating every piece of candy I see the last few weeks lol - I'm still wanting to lose another 15 if possible but would be happy with 10 - I have too many clothes I just can't wear and it's such a waste. HOW Do you do the low Carb diet ??? I've never tried it before....I still have nutrisystems food left that I saved for after the holidays but man - I lose soooooooo slow it isn't funny. I really was rigid for 3 almost FOUR months.... and only lost 15. Anyone else would have lost double that. |

| There are quite a few low carb plans. My hubby and I do Atkins. To begin with you are supposed to have under 20 carbs a day for the first two weeks. It is basically detoxing your body and getting yourself off the sugar so those cravings will go away. You'll find that you are not hungry after a few days on this diet. I often forget to eat and start to feel yucky, then I realize, Oh I went to bed without eating dinner the night before... LOL It's a nice feeling but the diet itself is hard because you get tired of meat. I have found that after doing the diet that when I cheated and had something sugary, it didn't taste as good as I remembered. You can have fat, like mayo, oil to fry with, in unlimited amounts. You can eat as much food as you like as long as you stay under 20 grams of carbs. When reading labels on food, you can subtract the dietary fiber from the carbs to get the carb value. The more fiber the better. Drink til your eyes float. The diet itself is a diuretic so for the first few days you will be peeing a lot and you may even have an upset tummy as your body adjusts to your new way of eating. Yesterday, I ate 2 fried eggs for breakfast, tuna with mayo and pickles for lunch, and steak and salad for dinner. I had a few almonds and a piece of beef jerkey in between meals. I also had coffee with heavy cream and splenda. You aren't supposed to have caffeine but I just can't give up everything!! |
