| Holiday Baking How has their holiday baking done?? What do you make? I spend ALL day yesterday baking goodies for family and friends! Whew! That was a chore! Today, I am packaging them and hopefully getting rid of everything I made! I made fudge for the first time! Wow! It was super easy! --I thought it was going to be hard! I made: Peanut Brittle Fudge (w/ and w/o nuts) chocolate covered coconut balls spice crinkles oatmeal raison cookies pecan bars peanut butter drops rum fruit cookies and for us, my daughter came up w/ chocolate covered honey nut cheerios! Ha! --hey, that was pretty creative and they looked cute --- not to mention, tasted good! Plus, we went over to our neighbors house (the same one that had Rusty) and baked and decorated cookies - some for us to keep and some to share. Her mother had once had a bakery and all of the kids worked in it......she had home-made cookies and icing and the pastry bags and tips! It was fun! We loved it! Oh, Hersey Kisses now come in every flavor you can almost think of! So, I bought tons of bags fo those to add to our cookie platters. We got: mint kisses, candy cane (peppermint) kisses, cherry kisses (like a chocolate covered cherry w/ the cherry or mess - kiss w/ the cream filling), caramel kisses (filled w/ caramel), special dark chocolate kisses, normal kisses and macadamia nut (yum) kisses! Okay, I went "kiss" crazy! YUMMY!

| Has anyone ever cheated and bought store bought stuff and give out w/ home-made stuff? Just curious..........I would never do that! HA! --just kidding! I have done it before and probably will again! My neighbor just brought stuff over and you can tell she worked hard to make it look home-made ---nothing wrong w/ it at all -- we like it all the same! It just got me thinking, how many people do this?!

| I usually bake up a storm at christmas time and give homebaked goodies as gifts to my co-workers, but this year I just got lazy! I didn't even put up a tree! I'm not going to be home for xmas anyways so what's the point? I'm going to my mom's tomorrow and won't be back till new years. So all I made this year was some chocolate-peanut butter truffle mice and some baklava (no, I'm not greek...I just like baklava!). So here's a picture of my cute little mice. He's Reese's chocolate on the inside (melted pb chips) and dipped in dark chocolate, with peanuts for ears and black licorice for a tail, draguees for eyes/nose and coconut for whiskers. |
