| Baked Sweet Potatoe Recipe Help I don't like sweet potatoes, but that is what I have been asked to bring to a friend who is cooking Thanksgiving dinner for us so I need y'alls help in deciding which recipe to use based on ingredients: Here are the two I have: sweet potatoes with salt, brown sugar, honey, butter, milk, topped with marshmallows; or sweet potatoes, brown sugar, maple syrup, heavy cream, butter, vanilla extract, allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg, topped with marshmallows Also, is it best to start with fresh and boil them until soft or are canned preferred - if so, any brands better than another?? Please let me know which you think the majority of people would like or feel free to submit your own recipe. Thanks. |

| Heck, used the canned. Much easier, and probably cheaper too. There's a recipe right on the can

| I would use canned yams/sweet potatoes...they're eaier and taste just as good...unless the recipe specifically calls for fresh. The second recipe sounds better to me...I always toss a few pecans on top too. |

| I prefer my sweet potatoes baked, and then add butter and salt and pepper. Why do people think they need to add all that sweet stuff. No wonder no one likes them. |

| I use fresh not canned My kids love my sweet potatoes... I use the real ones, boil in the skin just till the skin is soft, it peels very easy once cooled then slice about an inch thick top with butter, cinnamon, brown sugar and bake in a corningware pan for about 30 minutes then top with pecans, marshmallows and maple syrup. YUM!! Some like a little orange juice for a citrus flavor. Good Luck |

| Gina's recipe sounds great (I'm going to try that one myself!), but if you want to go with one of your original recipes posted, I'd go with the second one. The spices sound like they'd make it really yummy! |

| Sounds good and I'll have to try one, but if you are kitchen or time challenged, I have an idea. Last year at the last minute I got stuck making big dinner for everyone. I found in the frozen section a already prepared package. All you had to do was put it in the oven and voila. It actually wasn't that bad. Good luck

| Every year I make sweet potatoe casserole. Of course I never measure but you really can throw anything close in and it WORKS. Take a large can of brand name whole sweet potaoes. First drain then ut in a pot and heat up with half a stick of butter, a bunch of cinnamon to taste(I use lots), half a cup of brown sugar. I also put raisens in but if you don't like just leave them out. (I LOVE THEM ).You warm it together in the pot and then beat it until it is a thick consistency. Do not overbeat into soup. Make it just about like thick oatmeal. Then you put it in a casserole dish and put the large marshmallows all over the top covering it ALL. Then set aside until just before dinner. THEN... you pop it on he oven when everything else is done and you are finishing those rolls. Bake it just until the tops of marshmallows turn golden and take out and serve warm. Every holiday if I DON"T make this I get complaints asking wher is it!!!!! It is simple ,fast and easy. You can make it ahead of time and warm it later with the marshmallows.
