| Need help! Alot of you might remember about 2 weeks I asked your input on a name for our new Doberman puppy-well last night at about 7:00 pm he passed away. Today we would have had him 2 weeks. It was horrible! he was fine and has been fine even up till we left yesterday to go to parent teacher conferences at 4:00. We got back a little after 5:00 and i hollered at my husband to check him out because while i was fixing supper he was in the kitchen standing there looking at me with a help expression on his face, and acting like he couldn't hardly breathe, my husband stuck almost his whole hand down his throat and nothing, within 2 hours he was gone and when he passed whining the whole time my kids went to say goodbye-and he left us with them watching. I have never felt so bad in my whole life. I contact a place near where i live to possible have an autopsy done but at the least is 100 dollars upfront and that is just for one test! My question that i am needing help on is what can I do? Is there some law about us only having him for 13 days and him passing? When we got him the only things we noticed was he had a bare small circle on his back which the woman said his sister got him there playing and she picked the scab so the hair would grow back, he was a little under weight, and he had dandruff real bad. We wormed him and he just got his next set of shots from us on Wednesday. I am going to be sending an email to the woman letting her know he passed and was wanting to know if i should say anything to her concerning his health possibly before we even got him? So sorry for the long post but I knew someone on here could help me. Thanks in advance

| I'm sorry to hear about your puppy. Did you call or take him to the vet when he was in trouble? If so, what advice did they give? I don't know for sure but probably in order to do anything you'll need to know why he died. If it was from something he ate or choked on the breeder wouldn't be responsible but if it was a health related issue they might. |

| I did try to call the vet and he was away at a church meeting and the emergency vet was about 45 min away, when we knew it was bad( he quit walking around and just crawled back in his kennel and layed there wining) We knew we would not get him there in time. So we as a family decided to let him leave us with all of us here with him. We named him Kaw-liga because on the way home when we got him he whined and it sounded like an indian, and Kaw-liga came from that Hank Williams Jr. Song about the wooden indian man. Thank you so much, it upsets me to see but here are the pictures we took of him just a week ago.

| Awww, I'm so sorry to hear that You may have some recourse if you got a contract with the breeder. The laws vary from state to state, so check your contract. Hugs and prayers going to you and your family at this sad time

| I'm so sorry for your loss Growing up, my family had many Dobies and I had several myself. How old was Kaw-liga when he died? Have you contacted your breeder yet? Were there any guarantees on the puppy if it died? My Dobies did have skin issues (not anything life threatening-just sensitive) - and had problems with them having dandruff too. I wish the best for your family and hope you heal soon.

| I am so sorry for your loss. Just 13 days, I can't even imagine. I know your question was about what to do about the breeder. My only thought is that, did you happen to have a contract with the breeder? That said if there was a health issue she would replace? I am so sorry to say this, but I have a feeling that if there was not a diagnosis, you may not be covered. The breeder could come back and say he choked or got into something. Once again I am truly sorry for you loss.

| I doubt that you can go back on the breeder unless you first find out what he died from. Being just a puppy and having been left alone, he very well could have swallowed something. It's a very sad story, and I'm sorry for your loss, but without an autopsy you probably can't do a thing. Not to nit pick, but to inform. Kaw-liga was Hank Williams song, Not Jr's |
