| I don't know anything personally about the s**tzu .... however, we have a Westie in our family! My son-in-law bought Jackson for my daughter for her birthday a couple of years ago. He was a cute, intelligent, wild little pup but I have noticed the last couple of times I have seen him that he has really calmed down a lot! He is great with the children and very energetic! I believe that he has matured a lot ... he is very loving and sturdy!! I honestly think that you could carry him around all day by his tail & he wouldn't mind .... he always has a great big smile on his face. That's about all I know about the breed .... sorry! Good luck ... let us know which you choose.

| My vote for a Shihtzu! I've owned one and they have great temperments and get along well with other dogs and other people. Plus they are cute as pie, like little live flat faced teddy bears , and their coats are gorgeous and you can put topknots in their hair.

| I have 4 shihtzus, 3 males and 1 female. They are the greatest dogs besides the yorkie (I felt I had to say that here, lol). Mine are all very sweet and loved to be lap dogs. If I were to get another dog, I would have a hard time choosing between the shihtzu and the yorkie. Luckily, since I have 5 dogs all together including my yorkie, I won't have to make that decision for awhile. Joan |

| Just get another Yorkie....You can't ever have enough of them!!! There that solves the problem...Since you both like the Yorkie breed...Just get another Yorkie!! Thats what I would do...Just a suggestion?! ...Or you could get what you want and let him get what he wants? |

| There both terrific breeds. I have never owned a Westie before. Either flip a coin or get another Yorkie like someone else said. Teri

| I vote for Westies because they are terriers and terriers have great personality. Not to say Shih Tzu don't but they are more gentle than terriers!
