| Hard to believe it's been over a year It is so hard to believe that it's been over a year since we lost Sam our middle son who was only 26 years old at the time of his death. I was going through some pictures and I thought I would share some with you. This pictures are about 5 years old, I can't believe how small Ethan looked then. Sam, I will always miss and love you, not a day goes by that I don't think of you and cry a little. I know you are in heaven watching over us with Candy & Bailey(his yorkies that we lost) and you grandfathers, and grandmothers, and we will be together again someday. Until then we will think never forgot you and will always remember that our life was better for you being there.

He had been in a car accident a few years prior and was suffering from chronic migraines. The dr's put him on Oxy's. He knew he was hooked I had talked about it with him in great depth the previous year when we saw him he lived in DE. I told him when he was ready to get help that all he had to do was call and I would do whatever I could to see that he got the help. I even asked him if he was ready and he thought about it for a few minutes and said no. That right now he just couldn't stand the thought's of more pain. I told him I understood and that I was there for him to just always remember that. We're still not real sure what happened. I think that maybe he had taken his pills and then forgot and took some more on top of them and then he was going somewhere in his car. Well you can guess what happened next. Luckily it was just a single car no other's involved. I blame the doctors for putting him on such high powered meds to start with. Of course I'm no doctor but, I would think that there would have been something else that they could have put him on the help manage the pain just as effectively.

Thanks Villette, some days are better than others. But, believe it or not it does get a little easier every day. Even though he was my stepson. I never thought of him or his brother as my stepsons. I told them both on several different occasions that I loved them as much as I do Ethan. That in my heart there was no difference that, I didn't have to give birth to them to think of them as my own.

| I am so sorry for your loss. That OxyContin is a seriously dangerous drug. There have been so many lives lost to it. I agree that doctors should be more careful prescribing that stuff. |

| Oh that must have been horrible, I can't even imagine. I don't blame you for holding the Dr's responsible. They should not have kept refilling the prescription, they could have gradually gone down to less potent drugs. My husband has had a lot of surgeries due to daibetes and he was getting hooked on percocet, his Dr finally turned him over to a pain mangement Dr, that would only prescribe so many, and if he took too many then he would run out before the time to refill, so he had to make them stretch. I believe his Dr was being very responsible in doing that. Now he doesn't take them at all. |

That's great that your husband doesn't have to take them anymore. My mom takes Oxy's but it is the lowest dosage that they have. She has had chronic back pain for years. She has a spinal cord stimulator now but, she still has to take some pills. Every 2 - 3 years she is in the hospital and it's for nothing other then to detox because, they just get built up in her system. We've never brought it up to her but, we know that's why but, she is able to function and doesn't get so looped that she can't do anything. We still worry about her though.
