| Winsor Pilates Has anyone tried Winsor Pilates? I ordered it a few weeks ago and just received it today. I'm hoping it'll work. I have a pilates dvd that I ordered from ebay and have been doing that for about a week. I find it really hard to do ab workouts..it gives me a headache bc it's so hard to focus on breathing and sucking in your stomach at the same time. Maybe it's just me... lol Also, has anyone ever tried those weighted hula hoops? I have this hula hoop at home that weights about 4-5 lbs and I guess it's supposed to be like an ab workout?? any inputs??

| My neighbor bought and swore by it. The thing is that sooner or later you feel like not doing them and it defeats the purpose.

| As a Pilates Instructor, I can tell you first hand that unless you have real instruction that distinguishes from what you think are doing right between what the actual body position should be - the tapes will never be as effective as they could be. I don't care for the Windsor series as I think her instruction is very lacking, especially considering most people who buy these have never taken a class before. My recommendation would be to find a live Pilates class, take a few and then when you understand what you should be doing and can feel the difference, work with the tapes.

| It gets both easier and yet more taxing over time. Although the movements will become more familiar, the less you have to focus to keep the abs & ribs contracted inward to the spine, the deeper you will work those muscles. A word of caution when doing the leg movements - the entire rest of your body should be perfectly still - no hips or shoulders wobbling, the back shouldn't be lifting or shifting (when on the back) and the leg needs to continue reaching longer and longer throughout the movement. The movements should be very precise and exact. No momentum (with any of the movements) carrying you along. Range of motion should be contained to where you can keep the body completely still, with abs/ribs contracted - even if that means you aren't moving very far. Controlled and small is always going to get more results than big, slopping movements. Okay - done being an instructor for the night. Off to bed to prepare for my 5:30am class tomorrow!!!
