| Laid off...again! Yup, went to work monday and get the news that the project I was hired for is being cancelled. I'm now focusing on school. I'm going to find a part time job to help cover the bills. I'm just really not in the mood to go on interviews and fill out applications, and update my resume. This sux!

My furkids Donating Member | I know EXACTLY how you are feeling...I was out of work on medical for 2 weeks last May (withdrawing from Paxil...not good) Aparently my BI**CH A## boss didn't really care. I was back to work one week when they told me my position was eliminated!! YA RIGHT! I was the front desk receptionist/administrative assistant...I got a lawyer...he said that all they have to do is post the job under another job title and they will save their butts....well I guess they were smarter than I gave them credit for because that is exactly what they did...they were not very nice people to work for anyway...I started that job in Aug of 2005 and was still looking for something else because I didn't like the people I worked for...I couldn't find anything!! I am still looking and STILL cant' find anything...I have always wanted to do Phlebotomy...only thing is the class doesn't start intil March!! I have to find something in the meantime...we have bills to pay that unemployment is only for another 5 weeks...It's terrible out there...there is absolutely NO JOBS!! and the jobs they have are like 7.00 per hour...I am 49 years old!!!7.00 an hour isn't going to cut it.. Good luck in your job search!

Aww I'm sorry to hear about your troubles! I have a lot of respect for phlebotomists.. I'm starting a new job and had to get blood work done for it. My company has nurses on-site to do all of that, but NONE of the nurses could get blood from my veins. My right arm is all bruised from it. So they sent me to Quest Diagnostics to have the phlebotomists there do it and let me tell you, the woman there did it in 2 seconds, it didn't hurt and NO bruise! I hope it all works out for you!

But hey I got my cert. in Phlebotomy, but now that I'm not going for nursing anymore I just never got a job with it. It's really interesting though. I'm acutally keeping that in my options for now too. Good luck to you too! Hopefully soon we'll both have NEW JOB postings!

My furkids Donating Member | Hopefully soon we'll both have NEW JOB postings![/QUOTE] Wouldn't that be nice!! I've been looking for a job......forever!! 6 or 7 $ an hour isn't much..I really don't know how people can expect you to live on that...especially if you are out on your own..everything seems to go up but the pays! I can't start school until March..that is when their next class is... Good Luck to you too! QUOTE=Rae Rae]I know how you feel! We should start a club, LOL. I really want a retail job because that is my major, but all entry level is like $6-7, and I really can't liveon that. But I was talking to my boyfriend, and were going to sit down and figure out our bills and see howmuch I need to bring in. I'm totally willing to make the sacrafice, I just don't know if I can afford it. But hey I got my cert. in Phlebotomy, but now that I'm not going for nursing anymore I just never got a job with it. It's really interesting though. I'm acutally keeping that in my options for now too. Good luck to you too!

6-7 isn't a lot, but like my boyfriend said, that's 6/hr I didn't have before. Plus, I'm going to school for fashion marketing and management, so in the long run it will pay off. A lot will be sacraficed right now, but my future career is my top priority. Actually at Radioshack they had a Now Hiring sign, and the guy told me during the holidays you can easily make $15/hr. I might apply there. I know that BCBG is like $10/hr, but it's like 45mins from my house.
