| Rain, Rain - Go Away! In case you guys haven't watched the news lately, it's ark building time in the Houston area. Thank goodness I didn't run into any "lakes" on my way home. I did find it humorous though that the owner of the company departed early and left all us underlings to work until 5:00. No wonder it's hard for us to care! I'm not in a flood zone, but please pray for those who are. When we get 8 inches of rain in just a few hours, peoples lives are torn apart. This happens every couple of years so you'd think the city engineers would say "duh", we need better drainage, BUT NO, they just keep building houses and leave the infrastructure to fend for itself. I'm in the wrong profession! |

| Misery loves company I'm in this with you Chester's Mom but I've been in the house with my 2 grandkids who couldn't go to school today because of the rain but their mom went to work. I told them I was putting up a sign by the driveway that said: FREE 5 YR. OLD BOY 3 YR. OLD GIRL 6 MONTH OLD YORKIE and to top it all off my husband is head of the drainage district for Chambers County, what kind of mood do you think he's going to be in? |

| I've done my stint with young kids (thank goodness I only had one!), but I'll take the Yorkie, no questions asked! Hope I didn't offend you with the remark about the city engineers. I know how government works. Chambers County, you guys got hit pretty bad, didn't you? I know a friend of mine was in Liberty County yesterday at his hunting lease and he said he almost had to swim out! I'm just mad I didn't get the new sod laid in my front yard before this storm hit! |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I hear you !! I have a crazy Cheri who won't pee in the rain - but will chase the DERANGED Squirrel that torments her - she usually doesn't even go out side in the rain but today is a muddy mess and getting a bath - and I have Miss Water Maniac (Chanel) who just wants to chase raindrops or leaves blowing ...she LOVES the rain - I don't. |

No offense taken. I'm a retired city secretary so we have both had to work on a thick skin. My husband said we've had about ten inches so far but we've not really had any major problems that I know of. There is one house here in town that floods pretty easily & I feel like it probably got water in it. Our problem here is that most of Chambers County was water leveled at one time for rice fields. When the rice market failed, people began to plant crops that don't grow well under water like the rice did and now they build homes on the same land. That's a very poor idea but people sure don't want the govt telling them what they can do on their own land, so .... | |

| Villette, That is ohh soo precious! And she does look like a Spy Girl, peeping through the fence like that. I'm looking forward to the day Darla is big enough to dress. I know Chloe won't go for it, she's such a tomboy. Happy wading! Jacki |

| I had heard that Houston got lots of rain I'm thinking 10 inches. It's raining here now. It rain about half the day yesterday and has been raining all day here so far. I'm not sure how much we are suppose to get, haven't watched the news. Try and stay dry.

I have a neighbor at the top of the street that she reminds me of. She has to know everything that goes on in the neighborhood. She sits on her porch and watches everyone come in and if she sees a car she doesn't recognize she is up and wondering where it's going.
