| I'm so ANGRY I am so sick of being treated like a child! I'm 25 years old and have held a steady job since graduating college!! Why is it that these old ninny's treat us younger women like dirt!! I have a bachelor's degree in Marketing and feel like that has earned me some respect among others in the office, yet all these women treat me like I am 12 and have no idea what I'm doing...they pick me apart from head to toe, what I'm wearing, how I do my job...it's everywhere I go to...will this ever get better, will the younger generation who have worked hard ever be treated like normal human beings...sorry so long but I had to vent, I'm totally tired of no matter where I work getting the run down from these fat old women!! Where are all the cool chicks and why don't I ever work with anyone who just likes to shoot the @#$ and have fun...AHH I'm working for men from now on...

| Honey, I feel your pain. But I've been on both sides of it. The younger girls are bitches too. You can go out with them, but they will come back to work and talk about you like a dog. You can't win in the office. It is full of jealousy and politics. It sucks, but such is life.

| When you have paid your dues you'll be treatred like an equal. meanwhile keep you eyes and ears open and your mouth shut and you might learn something. Education is great but the real world is where you learn things. Educatioin does not automatically = intelligence. Education + wisdom = intelligence Wisdom comes from living There are as lot of edccated dummies that could not hold a candle to someone who got their education on the job. |

| I totally agree with you amdy...I went to work in hose a skirt and a button down shirt and one of the older co workers there had a problem and said I looked too sexy. My skirt was lower to my knees and I had on a button down shirt! What was sexy about that. I thought to say something but it wouldn't change anything. I agree the real world is more than just education, or at least most uneducated people think so, but I dont think the politics ever change and jealousy is jealousy plain and simple! I don't think young or old give enough credit to the other! Times have changed and to survive this day and age you practically have to be born with wisdom! Wisdom doesn't only come from age and experience, many people can learn from others mistakes of the older generation. But like I said jealousy is jealousy folks and nothing is going to change that! I guess you just have to hold on to your hat!

Some of the older ones have earned it too and may feel threatened. Why not ask for their advice and make them feel that they are still important and that you or whoever are not trying to take their jobs. Get them on your side....you get more with honey than vinegar.

| They are intimidated....so much of that goes around my office. No one wants to help anyone anymore. I agree with above post. Ask them for some advice. Don't act like you know it all (not saying that you do) but that may flatter them and help break the intimidation factor.

| I'm sorry, but if they feel threatened, it is usually because of their own insecurity. They don't want to accept change, and the world is constantly evolving around them. I'm so sorry that kids are GROWING UP with computers now. Boo freakin hoo. Take a class. I happen to have very personal and hurtful experience with a lady that I tried very hard to "win over" when I first started this job. She was in her late 70's, didn't get around very well, and mostly slept at her desk, but was kept on as an employee because of who she was. I painted her nails for her once a week because her hands shook so bad. I made sure that she always had something to eat for lunch, helped her with her work, and pretty much kissed her ass. When she retired, after working with her for 4 years, I threw her retirement party. THEN, I find out that she has trashed me all over the building and told all of my coworkers not to trust me. This woman betrayed me like no other. I really had grown to love her and she acted like I was the granddaughter that she never had. I am telling you, you cannot win. I stick by my statement THE OFFICE IS FULL OF JEALOUSY AND POLITICS.

| and another thing... and another thing....no one and I mean no one...regardless of age has the right to speak to someone in an inappropriate manner....despite popular belief we're all humans and deserve the simple courtesy of polite demeanor. That is what's wrong with this society, everyone has a HUGE chip on their shoulder...and I'm not saying the younger generation doesn't either...but there are a few things that well I guess the younger generation could change too..inclluding our working environments!
