| Hairdo Help Ok I am needing some serious updo help I need to find a STYLE and EXPLICIT instructions for creating a FABULOUS updo for my daughter. i have already looked and looked online but am more confused then EVER. I'm pretty clever with hair so if any hairstylists are out there and can give me GOOD advice and help as to products and styling methods....PLEASE DO WE want it VERY upswept. She has VERY LONG hair and it doesn't hold a curl well. Go figure. If it dries natural it's wavy.....but TRY and curl it and it FLOPS Not really looking for anything like a Chignon . UGH.. not to sound mean but please don't everyone tell me look for pix because that is NO HELP... I need step by exact step instructions

| Ok i have just done it quickly to my hair, it doesnt work as well as my hair is shorter, but you will get the idea from these pics. You can do it higher up on the head or lower down, or even to the side of your daughters head. Pull down some thin whispy bits of hair and curl them into ringlets for a really special effect, excuse the pics its like 12.54am here and im tired |

| you could cheat and get hair pieces they work great, look great and you can match her hair perfect and take no time to put on. HSN has alot of nice one for a fair price and they look natural. I ball room dance and use them all the time and my hair is average thickness and shoulder length, they stay in all nite long

| I'm fixing to have to do a "dramatic updo" type thing for a play I'm in, and I was actually planning on doing a combination of the advice you've already gotten! I was going to use a cheap hairpiece (for the extra volume) THEN wrap my own hair over/around/under it, like Yorkie7 showed.

| Thanks guys. I think we want a REALLY intricate updo though. You know that sits up higher and has lots of curls and stuff. I'm reall confused because some instructions say totally dry hair and another says use molding cream when slightly damp. Yet even more instructions says moose and another says use babypower ...UGHH I'm so confused I suggested the hairpiece thing to ny daughter and she looked at me like i was CRAZY...LOL.. I can't blame her though. her hair is pretty long and i just can't imagine all that hair plus a hairpiece on her head Yorkie 7... Thanks so much for the pix.. I'm thinking I would like that style for MYSELF....I'm going to try it today on my hair

| It's hard for us to suggest any one particular style - the way she wears her hair depends on the style of dress she is wearing, her face shape, etc. Here's some links I found with Step-by-Step instructions... http://www.hairboutique.com/tips/tip3510.htm http://www.hairboutique.com/tips/tip1116.htm This one looks really easy to do - but the results look super complicated!http://www.hairboutique.com/tips/tip1014.htm This site has some instructions too... http://styles101.homestead.com/updos101.html Hope this helps... Post pictures when you do the 'do!

i need instructions on exactly where and how to pin with step by step pictures. It seems I keep finding sites that have like 3 pix and 10 steps when I would need 10 pix for 10 steps

| This might help...... her dress is kinda sleek not flffy... and I know she should wear a sleek updo with this kind of dress.... but that's not what she wants so it really is not up eo what i think. She want a big old full head of fluffs and whorls set up high I'll probably string some beads or something through it for her. By the way. Her dress is VERY red and her hair is dark long and straight. She's tall and broad shouldered with a thin build with curves so I think she can pretty much carry off a BIG DO

| Stop stressing and worrying yourself silly and take her somewhere and let someone else deal with it. My kids go the the beauty school and they do a great job. Just give yourself a little more time when you schedule the appointment just in case you need to alter it a bit. The only issue I had with the school was they went heavy heavy on the eye make up and we made them redo it.

| I have loked online but cant really find anything, if she wants something really big, you can try doing my style with like 8 sections of hair instead of 4, and if she wants it high, just do the pony tail up really high on the top of her head, you can pull bits through and ringlet them, other than that im stumped |

| I've been a hairdresser for many years and raised 2 daughters. You might suggest to your daughter with her build and a sleek dress, if she has a big hair do high on her head it will take away from her face, dress, and body. A really big intricate up do really isn't in style now either. I've done a lot of hair up in my carrier and have done the big styles with lots of curls ,but it takes alot of hairspray to hold it. You might use a jell for body and Got2beGlued 2 or max will hold anything. I would take her to a hair dresser and let them work it out.
