| where has it gone? Sorry this is way off topic but i figured most of us are women. Ok Im just wondering if anyone can help me? I haven't been having periods regulary for well over a year now,i tend to only get one every six to 8 months. I have been to the doctor as obviously i was getting extremely bloated and moody . Anyway the doctor did blood tests on me and everything came back fine. I was tested for diabetes, thyroidism, hormones, polysistic ovaries etc. So now im waiting for an appointment to go and see a gynacologist(sp) I am not overweight/underweight, eat healthy and am not stressed. Does anyone have any ideas what it could be? Im a little worried about fertility issues in the future |

| Sorry, can't help you as I was always like clockwork - could set your calendar by it! Due to medical problems and to keep me in good health, I had to have a hysterectomy 9 years ago so I know where mine went...LOL!!! All I can do is keep you in my thoughts and prayers, which I gladly do Keep us posted - praying it's nothing serious!

| How old are you - maybe not specific, but 20's, 30's? If so, then you do need to see a GYN doc. Are you extremely athletic? That will cause periods ot stop. I think you may find the answer at the new doc.

| When I was younger, I never had a "normal" period either! I would go months without one or when I did have it, it was maybe just spotting for a day and that was it. I have seen several different doctors (gyno's) in my life and some would switch my birth control pills - ARE YOU ON THEM? - sometimes, the estrogen in them makes your body different and of course, most people take them to regulate their periods. Anyway, I was a moody, mess for those several years of being on different pills. I think the doctor would switch them about every year and a half or so. Finally, I just quit taking them all together a few years back, but my periods were still never right. One doctor said that as long as I spotted (even it was one spot all day) that was considered a period and that most women would love to have that kind of period. Then, my thyroid was underactive (gained weight, no energy, etc), but my period was still the same.......Some even said that it was early menopause, but who knows. I too was alittle worried about fertility issues, but that was never seen as a big issue with the doctors I seen. But, I don't know why it wouldn't be an issue........we were always taught that you had to be going through all of that for your body to get ready for having babies, so I don't know. I have heard everything from it being caused by stress, diet, exercise, lifestyle, genetics, etc. I honestly don't think anyone knows for sure. Like you, I was tested for everything and have tried several different things, to no avail. So, has of the past 12 years or so, I have been content with a very small period or none at all. Maybe getting a second (or third or fourth) opinion might do some good. Like I mentioned earlier, I seen several different doctors (probably about everyone in my area) while I was trying to figure it out. Good Luck!
