| My Sister Stole My Dog Long Story My sister lives 6 hours away from me. She told me that one of her clients,(she's a beautician) had a 9 month old s**tzu, and it wasn't getting along with her other dog, or her kids, and asked my sister if she wanted it because my sister has a s**tzu also. So my sister was telling me about this and I said well did you take it. She said No because Baily, her dog, wouldn't like it, he is very spoiled, and her dh wouldn't be too happy about it either. I told her well call her up and tell her you'll take it, and she said Why, I said because I'll take it. So the next day she is emailing me pictures of the dog and she had taken it to the groomer and so on. So I asked her if she was going to keep it, and she said she didn't know yet. He is really naughty and untrained, he fights the leash, rolls onto his back and chews on it. Gobbles down his food, and has bitten her when she tries to take his food away. Baily won't eat unless she hand feeds him because he is used to free feeding and now she can't leave his food down and he is just plain spoiled. I'm guessing that the previous owner just let her kids maul him, and drag him around on a leash and he never had any gentle, proper training. Or they just kept him tied up. He never had any shots, never been groomed, is not neutered, never been wormed, etc. My ds is coming out to visit me in about 6 weeks and said she will decide by then. If she can't get him straightened out by then she will bring him to me. I told her I would drive up anytime and get him, she doesn't have to wait. I am trying very hard not to be angry About this, but her training methods and mine are not the same, and I'm afraid that after 6 weeks of her methods he will be even worse. She didn't want the dog till she found out that I wanted it. I won't let a dog come between us, or at least I am trying not to, but I don't see why I should have to wait 6 weeks for her to decide whether or not she is going to let me have the dog. If she is going to keep it and she loves it then I won't mind, because I was going to give it to some friends that have a s**tzu also. But it makes me mad that she might just end up making the dog worse and then saying OK now that I have ruined him, you can have him. I keep telling myself that it will just be a bigger challenge for me and I like a challenge, but meanwhile I have to bite my tongue. I'm pretty sure I will end up with him, because she has no patience whatsoever. And it sounds like he is going to take a lot of patience. And IMO her methods are just going to reinforce his bad behavior, because she has made it a battle of wills, and he is going to win. Just had to get that off my chest. |

| Honestly, if the dog is already really bad, 6 weeks isn't going to make too much more of a difference. AND if the dog is really as bad as you describe and you sister does not end up keeping it, I doubt she would wait for 6 weeks to let you have it. You know? I bet she will get really sick of it and call you and tell you to come get it! I think if she keeps it for 6 whole weeks, then that means she really likes it and she is going to keep it. She is not going to keep a dog she doesn't like and isn't intending on keeping for 6 whole weeks! She'll hand it over before then. That's just MHO. If you get the dog, you're not keeping it either, right? Or did I read it wrong? If you aren't keeping it either and you are giving it to someone else, is it really that big of a deal who it is acting when you get it? Maybe I misunderstood. Sorry if I did. |
