| Has anyone been on the depo shot and then came off? I was due for my shot in June and didn't go and get it. My husband and I are wanting to maybe try to have kids in like a year so I wanted to be off the shot at least 6 months b/4 we try. So I have been on my period for 7 weeks now, I'm REALLY moody and for the first time ever I'm having menstral cramps. I've never had PMS or cramping or anything when it was my time of the month. (When I say moody I mean like last night my husband and I had an argument and I ripped my cd player out of the dash of my car) So is this normal? And if so, how long will I have to deal with all this? I put in a call to my doctor but sometimes it takes like a day or two b/4 they call me back. I was just wondering if anyone else has delt with this. Crystal

| I worked with a girl who had been on Depo and then went off.... She had bleeding/spotting for like, 6 months! Whether that's normal or not, I don't know... But that's kind of why I never even considered it and just went on the Pill. Her story scared me so I just kind of stayed away from it (plus, I don't like needles)! |

| I was on the shot for about years and made gain a lot of weight and didn't have a period for 2 years and after I came off didn't have a period for about 6 months and after my first period I started to get very depressed. Went to see the doctor and put me on the ring and I'm loving it.

| Well a nurse just called me back and she said she's not sure if it's ok for me to have my period for this long so she's going to talk to a midwife and call me back. I guess it's kinda common to spot but not to full out bleed for 7 weeks... Crystal - I guess I'll know sooner than I thought, It normally takes them longer to get back to me

| I was on depo and honestly loved it. I never got my period the whole time I was on it, it was great! Before depo I used to get horrible cramps and heavy bleeding. I can't forget to mention all of the money I saved from not buying tampons. My only side effect was that my sex drive was very low, which my husband didn't like, he convinced me to go off of it. I never gained weight on the pill, actually I lost it, I was about 135lbs. It took me about 2 months to get my period back. I don't remember coming off of it as being that bad, I was just worried because my period hadn't come back. I was very busy since I had a 2 year old, my husband was on deployment, and I was working crazy shiftwork hours. So I don't remember being moody, just tired, but that could have been because of the night shifts. But I think everyone is different. I came off of the shot in June of 04 and we tried to have a baby off and on. Basically a "if it's meant to be it will be" thing. I got pregnant in Feb 06. But I'm sure that we would have got pregnant sooner if we "tried harder." I have heard that it takes up to a year to get pregnant again, so the sooner you get off if you want to have a baby, the better. I am not sure if I am going to go back on the shot after this baby. My husband has decided that he wants a vasectomy because he didn't like me being on the shot. I HATE shots more than anyone, I honestly sing "It's a small world after all" over and over again without looking at it whenever they take my blood or give me a shot. But to me it was worth it not having my period or horrible cramps. Good luck getting pregnant! |
