| WebSite Questions Who has their own websites? Did you write your own HTML, or did you use a Web Builder program. Was if a FREE program? Do you have a free site, or do you pay for it? How does that work? I am totally clueless. Any help will be appreciated. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I used Register.com and LOVED making my site. It costs money to set up but if you don't know how to write code - it's perfect. Front Page is also good...and cheap Bravenet is a free host site and popular |

Do you have to pay to have your site? How does that work. i know there are some free hosts out there like geocities, but do they make you have a lot of advertising on your site?

| Ok.. my post will be USELESS because I can't rememer the site name but 2 years ago I found THE BEST web site builder from the UK. It was made JUST FOR DUMMIES like me. I can't even build on GEOCITIES which is supposedly EASY. i am totally handicapped building ANY WEBSITE. This one was Totally like point and click for a KID with the greatest pictures and backgrounds. NO TECHNICAL language. and lots of choices. I paid some minimal amount for the year and they hosted and everything. I have NEVER EVER found one I liked as much and was so easy. I have also neber seem one with the background types like this one tyht was so inexpensive. So now al this is stupid because I can't find the name... but I will try and go back and look

| Who has their own websites? I do. www.sweetyorkies.com Did you write your own HTML, or did you use a Web Builder program. I write my own HTML. Was if a FREE program? NA Do you have a free site, or do you pay for it? I use www.geocities.com and I pay to have a site so I don't have ads. It's cheap though. How does that work? Just go to the geocities website. It explains it there. You just have to decide what you want your website called. Pick the package you want. I am totally clueless. I was too when I first got started! Any help will be appreciated. Hey, I love to build websites. I'm not a professional by any means!!! If you need any help, just holler!

| Steph. I've gotta come down and visit you. I've messed around with writing my own HTML. There is a website that has lessons and walks you through it, so I think I can figure it out. I just want a simple site. Nothing complicated, just somewhere to sell my dog clothes and eventually my puppies. I was thinking about Geocities, starting off free and then if I didn't likie the ads, I could upgrade. Question. Did you have to crefat a Yahoo account with the name of sweetyorkies to get that name? It says it uses your Yahoo user name, but I wanted something different. That's why I was hesitant to use Geo Cities. But my daugher sugggested that I just create a new account with a different name. Like DUH!!! LOL. Kids are just too smart for their own good. |

I want one to sell my dog clothes on and hopefully my puppies some day. so it is for a busines but just small scale. I've also lookme at 1and1 and godaddy. None of them take the time to explain about the domain and the host etc. But I think I'm getting it figured out. I'm a little slow but I am trainable. LOL Do I have this correct. Your domain is your url or name, you buy it and it is yours for an anual fee. Your host is the person that sells you space for your site, and that is paid monthfly it it's not free. Is that correct.

| Sounds correct. I also have a website with godaddy.com. I have a cookie business and had someone else build that website for me. The problem with that was, she quit on me in the middle of it! So now I have no idea where to pick up. Plus, she used front page editor and I don't have a clue how to use that. The thing with writing your own html is that it is mostly copy and paste. I have a book on html code, but have never used it! Usually, if I'm browsing around and I see someone's website that I like how they did something, I just view their source and see the code that they used. I've used other free websites and I have found that I like Geocities the best. It is the easiest for me. You can come down and visit any time!

| Oh yes. Just go up to your top toolbar. Click on View, then click on source. It will then bring up the code for that page. I know there is a way to block that too, I just haven't figured that one out yet, lol.

| Oh I wish I could help but I am no computer savvy . . . . am just lucky that it just so happens that my hubby is good with programming so he wrote my website as well as maintains all my updates. We don't pay on maintaining the website as it is free from being a comcast customer or should I say whether I have a website or not I am already paying for it - packaged deal with the cable and DSL. |
