| Beta's can Jump? So my husband woke me up this morning becasue he could not find our beta fish "petey" in his tank. I got up to look and I couldnt find him either . I looked everywhere in this 1 gallon tank that was sitting on a 4 foot ledge in our kitchen and he was no where to be found. I finally found him on the floor under our microwave stand and of course he was dead There is only a a small 1/2 x 1/2 opening at the top of the tank, how could he have jumped out of it? We have had this beta for about 7 months and he has never jumped out of the tank before. Anyone ever heard of a beta jumping out of its tank? I had a redtail catfish that used to do this, I had to keep rescuing him becasue he would jump into the filter, But I've NEVER heard of a beta jumping out of tank and I still find it hard to believe.

| you don't have cats do you??? I think they can jump, We had one that jump out, we have a hood & everything, but you know how in the back it has a little opening, we think thats how he jump, I don't think the cats could have done it, cause he was still all together and they would have had to open the top...Sorry to hear about your fish...

| Wow! I had no idea they were jumpers! This is like my 6th beta fish and its the only one that has ever jumped out .... well unless my other ones managed to jump out and then jump back in. Im going to get another one and I guess I will just have to cover up that tiny little hole. You guys seriously need to see how small this hole is, I cant believe Petey jumped out of it.

| Poor Petey! When I got Simon's Beckham Betta Fish I got a covered tank b/c, well I didn't want Hallie to eat the fish but the girl who sold it to me told me they are better in covered tanks b/c they are jumpers and committ suicide a lot. That is what she called it. I'm sorry about your fish |
