Cat eatting dog Food?? Is its ok?? My hubby picked up a kitten at his work about two month ago. We took her in. And now she eats my puppies hard food. (sci diet) I was wondering if this is bad for cat? She also eats her cats food which is sci diet as well... BUt then goes right to the dog food right after.... I think she eats all she can bc when we got he, she was starving. Just want to know if the sci diet dog food is back for cats? Thanks for any info. Olivia, Bunny and Bella

there is something in cat food (can't remember what it is but it starts with a "t") that helps them see at night so it would be best if she ate cat food.

| I honestly don't think its going to hurt the cat. We are actually in the same situation, took in a cat and well it actually would only eat my dog's food at first now it is eating cat food too. I think eventually it will probably start eating only cat food, especially if its like you said and its just eating b/c it thinks it might not get to eat later. It will eventually learn that you are going to feed it and calm down. I really think eventually the cat will start to prefer the cat food anyway, this is how it was in our case, I think its just tastier for them. Its been a couple weeks now and the cat we have will really only eat cat food.

Dog food doesn't contain Taurine... Dogs can synthesize their own, cats cannot. Without it the kitty could end up blind, suffer from heart failure, or develop some other kind of health problem. There's a few other nutrients that cat food contains that dog does not, but taurine is the main one. As long as the bulk of the cat's diet is cat food, a little extra dog food will probably do nothing except make her fat!

I have tried that. she eats 1/2 thing of wet food in the morning and the rest of it at night and has dry food out for her to nibble on. which is empty when I go to bed. and on top of that she eats whats left over on my furbabys plats every morning and night. And as soon as I add more hard food to kitty plate, she starts in on it... I think at this rate, she is going to be one fat kitty. but so far she is tiny
