Our Blessings R Many Donating Member | Why is hired help hard to find???? Thought I would post this question and see if others have experienced the same problem. We have tried to get hired help around our place for several years now and it is impossable to get someone willing to weed wack and do other yard chores, painting, etc. Last year I had several bids on painting our home, but the contractors all said in and out in one day, spray painting and don't do brush painting, no caulking their bids were way out of site, I have always painted so back to it I went. Caulking under the eves is a job and thankful that I got it done, but it sure would have been nice to hire someone that is willing to do these things, I wonder if it is because people are lazy or ????? Our kids were taught to help our elderly neighbors, and at the same time refused to be paid for it. In these times, where we live the kids don't know what work is but sure can tear up and down the road in the dune buggies and motor bikes, and being on private roads we have to maintain them I look back in life and am thankful that my parents taught us to do things and that work was something to look back on as accomplishments, there is a lot of things equipment can do but it takes hands to do the work. Oh well, thats my input on this subject, back to work. Patti |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I totally agree with you...I help my parents as much as I can - we painted their house for them and do odd jobs when they need us - but a contractor took total advanatage of them to do a simple extension of their den - My parents liked him - so he kept charging and charging - I finally found out what was going on and that jerk ended up not coming back and left some undone things - all because I questioned his work ethics....He claimed to like them and wanted to help them - yeah right ! People are NOT the same as they used to be. They're just not. When My lawn mower broke a few years ago - I borrowed my neighbors - I mowed HER lawn twice.....cleaned her lawn mower... and brought her a small gift When my neighbors (in this house) broke their lawn mower - I gave them mine - they mowed their OWN lawn only....broke it....tried to hide where they broke it ....and then had the nerve to ask me to borrow it again LOL |

| Ummmm I'll do it I LOVE yark work, too bad I don't have one and live in an apartment so I can't change anything!!!! My dad just talked to me about this same thing the other day. He offered to power wash his neighbors house (she is an elderly lady that had commented on how nice his house looks) and he has been mowing her grass for her and doing odd jobs. She offered to pay him but he's retired and really doing it b/c he likes too and he said she was so overwhelmed by his kindness she continues to bake him cookies and pies. He appreciates it but couldn't understand why nobody else had ever helped her out. People are not the same, I agree!!!! |

| Yes! I dont know, but it sure it! My parents have the worst luck ever. Their house burnt down 7 years ago. So the bought a new house It was DESTROYED by Katrina and they had a big problem with the stupid insurance. So they bought a fixer uper.. and had to hire people to put on a new roof. And low and behold the roofers waiting for my dad to leave one day a stole almost everything!! So I totally agree with you!
