| Possum in my KITCHEN!!!! I had a very rude awakening this morning. I was sleeping on the couch this morning and heard Kirby eating his dog food in the kitchen, then I realized he was on the couch WITH ME!! I went to investigate, thinking it must be some other kind of noise and when I got in there I almost stepped on a BABY POSSUM!! They look like GIANT RATS!! Now, I was barefoot and in my underwear and I don't mind telling you that I jumped and screamed (it was a very manly scream though) it was a classic "mouse-eek" moment! It didn't run away (but I did), it just sat there playing possum I guess, so I ran around looking for something to catch it in and tried to throw a box over it but I missed and it ran into a hole under the counter. What a ghetto I live in! Jeeze. Where was Kirby during all this you ask? He was hiding behind me the whole time, big tough guard dog, ya right!! I might be MOVING very soon!!!

That's a good idea about the health dept. I'll definitely call them if the apartments don't take care of it by doing more than just plugging the hole under my counter, that's a joke.

| Oh No! You are having the same prob I've been having for over a year now. They will come and plug the hole but they will chew through it again and again. If you need any tips of dealing with the health department and your apt. offices legal team let me know, I'm a pro! |

| As long as it was a manly scream... You may want to add some kind of rat poison or something to that area (where Kirby can't get into of course) if they do plug up that hole. |

I have had experience with possums before in Oregon. We had them in our house, but they were only in the walls, and mostly between the floor and basement ceiling, they never had acess into the living spaces. That was an ordeal first to find out where they were getting in and then trying to get them out so I could plug the hole. I didn't want to seal them in and have them die inside. They did have babies too and one, or more, of the babies did die and smelled really bad for a couple of weeks. And possums are nocturnal and the thought of those freakin' ugly things coming in my house at night has me totally freaked out! Guess I'll be sleeping with every light in the house on!!

KD, I wouldn't use the rat poison...what if it dies somewhere in or around your apartment and then you don't find it...till you notice the smell... I remember living in the country...had little mice in the house and so I put out those sticky traps. WELL, I happen to forget about one till I noticed the smell...it was disgusting. Another mouse got trapped in the bathroom...and it was just about free of the trap. Got the bb gun on that one.

Almost every species of animals has cute babies, even baby alligators are kind of cute, but baby possums are like little freakin' alien monsters!!

| Imagine almost stepping on one of these freaky things barefoot!! Sure, they look cute in a flowerpot with hay in it, but NOT in your HOUSE!!
