No Longer a Member | I Remember.. My Mom is 76 years old. After stressing about how to buy her a present this year, I have come up with something different. I bought a small journal at Walmart with a picture of a little girl on the front. Inside I wrote To Mamma and at the bottom of the page I wrote "I Remember..." On each page after that I wrote different special things from my childhood that I remembered she had done for me..like hanging my leotards on the heater before she would help me put them on. and ironing mt tu tu for ballet class on tuesday's. The birthday's where my friends and I would dress up in our mom's dresses and heels, standing in the kithchen chair with her apron on , washing dishes..and scratching up that same chair with the pot I used to sit on to eat at the table. Stuff like that. The memories would change as I grew older. I am 47 now and gray, mom is silver haired. I ended my book hoping to be half the grandmother to my grandchildren that she has been to hers. She has had breast cancer and just lost half her nose to skin cancer. How many mother's days will I have left with her? Just thought it was special. Gonna pick a flower from the garden to press in it tonight before I go to bed. We are not really the mushy I love you types, but I think it's time for both of us. Thought I would share. |

| That's both a creative and touching idea! I live 1700 miles away from my Mom and it's so hard to convey the appreciation I feel for her molding me into who I am today. I am 43 and this year I sent her 43 red roses and said thank you for each year you have shared your love with me.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | That is a lovely idea! I may steal that idea. My Mom is 86 years old and in failing health/ My parents sold their house and moved to an apartment to be close to me so I can help them. I have prety much taken over their complete care and my Mom keeps saying what would she do with out me and feels so bad that they are so dependent upon me. I keep telling her that I could never begin to pay her back for al she has done for me. We grew up poor but never knew it becaus we always had enough and my Mom worked hard to put 4 kids through Catholic school and we always had a great Christmas even though I know she had to take extra babysitting jobs to pull it off. WHen I had my dtr 20 yrs ago she was premature but healthy and my mom said you are not putting her in daycare and she took care of her from 6 weeks to 6 years of age and would never take a penny and they were 66 years old and just retired. She then took my sisters 2 kids 2 years later so at the age of 68 she had 2 kids under the age of 4 that she took every week day and was only sick one day where she couldn't take them! How do you ever repay that! I know the time is coming where she won't be here but I am so happy I can spend this time with them now.

| I was remembering another great gift idea ..I did this with my mom ..I asked her if she would write all her recipes for me you know all your favorite things she made , my mom was a good cook ,she told me she didnt use recipes ..then i said just guess it'll be close enough .So now i have hand written reciopes from my mom with all of the favorite things she made .I am so happy I asked her to do that and it was fun for her it gave her something to do when she was retired .

| OK...I am squallin here! You guys are so lucky and blessed to have had your mothers all your lives. I was reading all your posts and feel such love flowing from each of you for your mother! My mother died when I was 3, well they buried her on my 3rd birthday so I never knew her. I was raised in a foster home so I never knew my family either. Cherish all the days you have your parents...they are precious ones. The gifts for your mothers are so wonderful - the Journal, The 43 Roses, the Hanging Baskets and the wonderful meal...all great gifts that I am sure your mom will love. Happy Mothers Day to all you YT ladies out there today! Tell your mom you love her - today and forever!

Donating YT 14K Club Member | WOW! That is a very special present. If only we all could take the time you did to put our memories all in a book so they won't be forgotten. You've just given me an idea for next year's Mother's Day gift...thank you!
