Donating YT 30K Club Member | I feel so bad A childhood friend that I went to school with and my parents took in for Holidays and extended periods of time killed her self and her 2 cats. She had had a very rough life with her Mom dying when she was 10 and an alcoholic father. Her and her younger brother ended up as wards of the state but my Mom always had them on Holidays and over the years 40 or so she kept in touch mostly when she fell on hard times and my Mom and my sister always gave her money. A couple of years ago she moved back to the area and would call every couple of months for money. Well my sister got the call this morning. She was going to be evicted again and her one friend and his wife who had taken her in many times before said they couldn't do it again. She wa an alcoholic and we never knew. We would have gotten her help if we had known. I have been dealing with the medical examiners office all day because her brother who has no money, can't afford to make arrangements for her and my Mom wants to take care of it but they won't release her to us until her brother faxes something to the funeral home. He is afraid to because he doesn't want to be liable. I think we have him convinced to do it. He has his own problems and hasn't seen his sister since the 70's.It is so sad to think she was so low she killed her cats that she lived for and then herself. We wish we had known how bad off she was. Thanks for listening.

I Love Thor Donating Member | There's not much I can say to make you feel better. It sounded like you and your family were really good to her. As I am learning from personal experience there is only so much that you can do for someone else. I know it's so tough. It is so tragic when people have terrible lifes because of the ways they were raised. THis hits close to home with me and I am really sorry to hear that your friend is gone. I hope she is at peace, finally. If you need to talk please feel free to PM me. |

| That is so sad. The poor lost soul. I guess you just have to console yourself knowing that she is at peace now and all of her demons are gone. It's a rough thing to deal with. |

| Oh Patti, how sad... Take comfort in the fact that your family had done so much for her already. There comes a point in time when people have to do for themselves, and apparently she could not face that. How sad... Hugs to you on this sad day, my friend.

| What a sad, hard life she had, You sound like you and a your family did the best you could to help her, She is out of pain and being an alcoholic you couldn't have helped her unless she wanted it, don't beat yourself up over it, You did what you could and I'm sure she appreciated it, and thanks you. I'm sorry for your heartache.

| Patti, I am so sorry. It sounds like you and your family did all you could do for her. She sounds like she had some major problems in life. The alcoholism is a disease that robs you of the ability to be rational. It blinds you to the truth and to what is important in your life. Don't beat yourself up...there was no way you could help her. She needed professional help. She dealt with her pain the only way she knew how. The fact that she killed her cats tells me that she did not want to leave them behind to face a life in a shelter...she loved them more than anything else in her life. There was just more in her life that she hated than she loved and took the only out she could deal with...I am so sorry for you, your family and her family.

| This is so sad and I'm so sorry for you! Like the other's said, you did all you could to help her and bless your heart for that! Having a loved one or friend commit suicide leaves many feeling guilty for not being able to see it or stop it. You are not guilty of anything but befriending her. I'm so sorry for all her friends and family. Hugs to you!
