Calling all "Old Timers" of YT! Jaspermom had a great idea in learning about all the "newbies" to YT so I thought I'd turn the yorkie so to speak and ask all of you who have been a part of YT for a while to share a little about yourself. That way, the newbies (and some of us who aren't so new) can learn a little about you as well! 1. Name, age, and names of your furbabies 2. Are you a breeder (may be helpful for those wanting to breed for the first time)? 3. What about the Yorkie breed attracted you to them? 4. Best advice for a new yorkie owner? 5. A little personal background, i.e. married? single? human kids? 6. Tell us something cool or an unknown truth about you. YT is such a great group. I'm so very glad to have found you guys! Although I thought I knew a lot about the yorkie breed, reading some of your posts has proven to me that I don't know all there is and that we each learn something new all the time! You guys are a great support to those of us in need or just need reassurance that we are doing the right thing for our baby. So from me to all of you, thank you for your many contributions to the YT forum and to us all....you gals and guys ROCK!!!! Suzi :yorkietal |
Yes, I am new here and I'm eager to hear about everyone of you YT veterans. :) |
Can we say YOUNG old timers ? :p 1. Name, age, and names of your furbabies Chanel, Spy-Girl is my comedian is almost 4 years old. Cheri, my mommies girl and Master Tree Climber is almost 2 2. Are you a breeder (may be helpful for those wanting to breed for the first time)? In my dreams 3. What about the Yorkie breed attracted you to them? Everything - size - looks - spunk..... and total CUTENESS 4. Best advice for a new yorkie owner? Watch them VERY CLOSLY ...if you see them acting strange for THEIR Personality - don't ignore it...especially the little ones and young puppies. It's ALWAYS BETTER To be safe than sorry - they are not like big dogs.... oh...and and plan to revolve your whole life around the YORKIE. 5. A little personal background, i.e. married? single? human kids? I've been married 5 years ...have 2 grown sons I adore and a cocker spaniel named Tessa who can jump in the air 2 feet and kiss me smack on the lips. 6. Tell us something cool or an unknown truth about you. ewwwww....can I lie ? Ok....Besides yorkies - there is nothing I'd rather look at then a buff man. I think having a sick husband makes it worse ....because I am a GAWKER. I recently walked smack into a Pole outside a store because I was gawking at some good looking guy - I was TRYING to be cool and NOT look at him when he passed me. so I had to turn Around and check him out ... but Noooo....Miss COOL walked straight into a pole with this huge THUMP that I swear the next zip code could hear. I hit that pole so HARD I thought I took my ear off. |

My name is Amanda Lowry. I am 25. My Yorkie's name is Harley Davidson. I lost my sweet female She-Ra on Feb. 22, 2006, but she is still part of my family. I am not a breeder, so to say, but if I ever get another female, I may breed to get a puppy from Harley. What attracted me to a Yorkie was the beautiful colors and the LONG hair!!! The first Yorkie I met was She-Ra's Mother, she would smile at you all the time!!! I love that about them too! The best advice I can give is love that baby all you can! Never go a day without a romp in the yard. You don't know what you miss till it is gone. I am married to Tim, he is 24. We have married since Valentines Day 2002!! We have 2 daughters, Britney Nicole (4) and Stacey Michelle(18 mths). You see that I have been married 4 years and Britney is 4??? Well, obviously every one knows how that happened!! I got married exactly 4 days before she was born! Talk about procrastinating!!!!! I have been apart of Yt close to a year I know. I have found this to be the best forum on the internet. The people here are like family. I have never felt the kindness of strangers till I lost She-Ra. The members here opened their hearts and lives to me. I will always be grateful for that!!! I love you guys!!! Newbies, don't be afraid to ask these guys questions, they are soooo happy to help!!! Sincerely, Amanda Lowry |
Well, I'm not an "old timer," but I feel like I've been on here a long time, so I hope nobody minds if I contribute too. ;) 1. Name, age, and names of your furbabies~Nicole, 29y/o, Baby, 7 months 2. Are you a breeder? I breed bad relationships, does that count? 3. What about the Yorkie breed attracted you to them? Their size (I've always been afraid of big dogs b/c I was bitten before), their look, the fact that they are lap dogs and do not shed. :D 4. Best advice for a new yorkie owner? Don't let people scare you away from trying to housebreak your dog asap by saying they are hard to train. Don't wait! I did, and I'm regretting it now! :( 5. A little personal background, i.e. married? single? human kids? Single with no children. Live with my cousin Matt in a new house. 6. Tell us something cool or an unknown truth about you. I let Baby take showers with me. :D |

my head exploded like thunder...I guess I was just grateful not to BLEED all over the sidewalk. As it was - only one person saw me. It could have been a bunch. NOT COOL at all..... but it was so worth the view. :D |
1. Name, age, and names of your furbabies Megan, 13 y/o, and I have a yorkie named Tucker. along with a chocolate lab mix named Rusty and 2 cats, Muffin and Smokey. 2. Are you a breeder (may be helpful for those wanting to breed for the first time)? No. I doubt I could ever do it. 3. What about the Yorkie breed attracted you to them? They're soooooo cute!! and they think they're so big! 4. Best advice for a new yorkie owner? Read everything you can, don't hesitate to call your vet if you have any questions, and make sure your house is puppy proof. 5. A little personal background, i.e. married? single? human kids? I'm 13...single. :p 6. Tell us something cool or an unknown truth about you. There's not really anything that cool or unknown about me......... but I'll think about that..... |
oldie My name is Pat..I remember when YT had about 5 members...and we got about 10 posts per week.LOL My husband of 41 yrs and I retired to south Florida 11/04 after 35 years in Waldorf, MD...we love it here. I closed Yorkie kennel..and now I co-own most of my girls. I have two pets with me right now..Kate is 10 months and Emme is 4 months. I thought I wanted to finish another champion, but each time I get that urge, I laid down until it passes.. Nothing attracted me to the Yorkie..I did not want a dog having conviniced my two girls we were NOT DOG people. We had tried several breeds and none worked out for us..then my father bought the girls a Yorkie...a Yorkie is not a dog, it is a little human in a dogs body. There is nothing cool about me...my life had been one Lucy Ricardo situation after another. |
1. Name, age, and names of your furbabies Rowdy - 14 months - and just as sweet as pie and Rex (Rexy) 12 weeks old and a sweet little puff ball  I'm not kidding!!! His hair is 1&1/2 inches long and sticks straight out (almost!). He got his last round of shots today and so will be going to the groomers next week to get his HAIR CUT!!! 2. Are you a breeder (may be helpful for those wanting to breed for the first time)? Nope! 3. What about the Yorkie breed attracted you to them? After my husband got sick and was not able to be up and around very much, he was so very lonely (I work all day) so we wanted to get a little dog that would keep him company and one that he could manage since he doesn't have much energy or stamina. Rowdy was PERFECT! 4. Best advice for a new yorkie owner? They are ALMOST HUMAN - you will be amazed at their intelligence and how much joy they will bring to your life. 5. A little personal background, i.e. married? single? human kids? I'm 54 years old, a nurse, and my hubby and I have been married 24 years - he has 2 children by a previous marriage and I have a daughter by a previous marriage (no mutual kids, only furbabies). My daughter, her husband and their 9 year old daughter live very close to us and that is just wonderful. There's nothing like a granddaughter and furbabies to keep you hopping!!! :D 6. Tell us something cool or an unknown truth about you. There's nothing "cool" here! I guess an unknown fact about me which very few of even my close friends know, is that I grew up on a farm and we did not have an indoor bathroom till I was 9 years old. Yup, I had to hoof it to the outhouse and take a bath in the metal tub in the middle of the kitchen. |
1 year and 2 mos for me. Is that an old timer? ;) 1. Name, age, and names of your furbabies I'm Kristy. I'm 22 years old and I have an 18 month old York name Stewart Finnegan 2. Are you a breeder (may be helpful for those wanting to breed for the first time)? No, I am definitely not a breeder. Stewie is neutered. 3. What about the Yorkie breed attracted you to them? Easy to travel with and non-shedding. 4. Best advice for a new yorkie owner? Patience is KEY to successfully co-habitating with a Yorkshire Terrier ;) 5. A little personal background, i.e. married? single? human kids? Single as the day I was born. No children. I'm a student. I love politics and I love to read. I also love sports - playing & watching! 6. Tell us something cool or an unknown truth about you. I would die for the White Sox |
1. Name, age, and names of your furbabies--Kimberly, 30, Simon Samuel is 2 years and 7months and Hallie Ann is 4years old. 2. Are you a breeder (may be helpful for those wanting to breed for the first time)? No 3. What about the Yorkie breed attracted you to them? Well, Simon was an accident (I hated dogs) that I never expected. He was not wanted by the woman who "ordered and shipped him to Alaska" and he was left with the vet, there I was, it was love at first site for both of us :) Then 8 months later I got another call from the vet that they needed a foster for a "small dog" that had been abused and would I be interested. I said yes and that turned out to be Hallie. I fostered her for about 15min before I officially adopted her. I had never heard of a yorkie and knew nothing of the breed before Simon. Both of them were free. 4. Best advice for a new yorkie owner? Patience Patience and some more patience. 5. A little personal background, i.e. married? single? human kids? Single, never married, no kids. 6. Tell us something cool or an unknown truth about you. I think I've told all of you everything. HAHA Let's see, I'm from Alaska and used to spend every fall hunting bear, moose, caribou and dall sheep. I spent a summer training with a SWAT team and am firearms qualified by the State of Alaska Police Department. |
