| I really didn't mean it like that... I went to Walgreens to get my daughter prescription toothpaste, (braces) and while I'm sitting there waiting this pregnant woman and her husband start talking and she is crying. I tried not to ease drop but then she started talking about the price of meds to me. Then she precedes to tell me that her husband just switched jobs, and her pregnancy isn't covered on his new insurance. She is still crying and tells him lets just go we can't afford this right now. He says we'll figure something out, you and the baby have to be well. Then she asked the pharmacist how much will her antibiotic be. He said with tax $39 something. She starts crying even harder and I felt so bad for them. So I tell her "Sweetie, I hope you don't get offended but if you don't mind I would like to pay for your prescription". First she said why, so I told her I don't know I guess it's kinda like pay it forward (ya know the movie) and I would just like to do something nice for her. Very seriously she turned around and started screaming at me "I'm not your f*^%ing charity case. My mouth hit the floor and for the first time I didn't know what to say. I went up paid for my daughters prescription, turned around and said I am so sorry you feel that way, good luck with your baby and left. I really didn't mean to make her feel like that I just felt so sorry for them.

| You did not do a thing wrong! It was the thought that counted in your case...she was just whacked!!! Why would she cry to you (a very good person) about her problems and not expect someone to offer to help her...??? Honey, be proud of your offer...your heart was in the right place.

| I am so sorry this woman did this to you as I am a big believer of "pay it forward". Keep on believing you tried to do the right thing.

| Obviously her hormones kicked in. You were very kind, and you explanation of pay it forward should have showed her it wasn't charity. You didn't do anything wrong, you were trying to be kind.

| I think you did nothing wrong either! Actually, until I got to the bottom of your post, I thought they were "putting on a show" and waiting for charity. Then, when she freaked out...guess I was wrong!

| We all know how sweet you are and that your heart was in the right place, Tricia. Hormones are very powerful things! I was in a similar situation once and I wanted to help but didn't know what to do. I just paid the person's (elderly) bill when I paid my own and left without telling her. I hope she wasn't embarrassed or upset, but by then I was long gone and she didn't know who I was. She had been kind to me, so I just looked at it like repaying her kindness.

| Hey...you have a heart of gold...bless your heart! Most people being offered that, would be so gracious and grateful. Maybe she has mental problems or something. Don't you feel bad for a moment...you were being kind and thank goodness for people like you in this world!

| I think you are a total sweetheart! Maybe she hasn't seen the movie. I know I haven't, but now I want to, it sounds pretty good if it means helping eachother out. We need more people like that in this world. I was put on 7 meds last time I was pregnant and hospitalized for 3 days. I was on an antibiotic through most of my pregnancy. It was not good for the baby, but it was my only option besides a kidney infection. I am so thankful that the navy paid for everything. I am not sure what kind of antibiotic the lady was on, but mine resulted in some horrible pain. I hope the lady doesn't think it is optional medication. I am glad that you acted so rational. I wish that she hadn't cussed at you, her husband should have stopped her or apologized on her behalf. I guess she didn't want to make it seem like she was begging for help and didn't expect you to offer. Some people are too proud to ask for help when they need it the most. I am sure that she was upset as well. Things can seem so overwelming when you are pregnant. But she should have graciously declined your offer. You did something very nice that I don't believe many people who do. That lady was lucky she ran across you in the store and that you had even offered it to her. I am sure that she will feel bad for yelling at you later. Please don't blame yourself. |

| Bless your heart, what a lovely gesture! Some people are just so rude, a polite 'no thank you' would have been the correct answer.

| Well... i can imagine that's like getting slapped in the face. Pregnant or not, she could have been polite and said "thats very kind of you, but we will sort it out" at least both could have thanked you for offering your help.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Tricia....you are awesome. She should not have reacted like that. I don't know where peoples brains are.... but pregnant or not is no excuse for being rude. You gesture was outstanding and you should feel proud of yourself for trying - there are many people in the world that would be GRATEFUL for someone like you to step into their lives. |

| Tricia! What an awesome offer to make her! You are a stellar person! She was just a pregnant nut! How ungracious of her to be that way to you! BTW, a friend of mine was scammed in the drugstore exactly like that! They gave them money for their prescription and then saw them out the next day at WalMart buying all kinds of non-essential stuff! Perhaps she was just trying to get rid of you so someone would actually give her the money instead of offering to pay for a non-existent prescription? Just wondering... |
