| Wish me luck I have an interview this afternoon at 430. It with a huge medical supply company in the same town that I currently work in. According to what I have read so far it has great benifits and decent pay. Totally different aspect of nursing that what I have done but it does sound interesting. I am nervous as heck. I will post tonight or in the morning and let everyone know how it went. On another note my oldest son is going to start college in a few short weeks. ITT Tech for a criminal justice degree. I am so proud of him. Have a wonderful day everyone. |

| Sorry guys it has taken me so long to post. I did go to the job interview. It sounded fair. Sounds more like I would be delivering and setting up medical stuff than being a nurse. Plus he is not hiring for at least three weeks. I really don't know if I can wait that long or not. The job that I have now is the worst job that I have ever had. The only thing it has going for it is that it is day shift. Pay stinks and I hate the job in general. I work in a nursing home that is constantly short staffed. And the bosses could care less about the help. Yesterday I came very close to walking out. Which is something that I have never done in my life. If I was not the only one working in this house I would have. I have to do something very soon or I am going to have a nervous breakdown. I am calling a hospital today that has a 12 LPN position open on oncology. It is a night position so I would be home during the day to help take care of my Mother in law. Plus I would only work three shifts a week. The way I feel right now I would take any job I can find. Guys I hate to lay all of this on you but I really don't have any close friends that I can talk to and hate to say much to my hubby as he has so much on his plate. He is doing alot of the care of his Mom now since she is living here. And he feels bad that he is not able to work which means that I have to be careful about how much money I bring in. On a brighter note, my oldest son is still on track to start ITT in about a week. I am so proud of him. And my youngest will turn 18 in June and is turning out to be a wonderful young man too. So I guess I have did something right in my life. Thanks guys for listening to me ramble along. |

| I worked at a facility like that when I was in college.. I went to the DON, who visited only once a month...about the short staff...and CNA's double gloving and using doorknobs with used (You can imagine what they were used for.) gloves on. It was more like an assembly line...Dress as many as poss in AM...give as many meds as poss....feed as many... and hope that the ones with some self care skills do not feel too neglected... How I got through it was I told myself that at least I tried to be kind and give the best care I could while I was there...which was more than some were doing...and then took the next job I could outta there.. I wrote lots and lots of letters of complaint to the Health Department. Good Luck and know that you are the best these people will see.. Bren

| Yes, I keep telling myself that and it worked for awhile. But I have been a LPN for so many years that it really bothers me. And when families complain about the quality of care, it is the staff that gets jumped that they should manage their time better. I think all the nursing homes are like that anymore. I get up in the morning in a bad mood cause I have to go to work and go to bed at night cause I had to work that day. Life is way too short to feel that way all the time. Something has to give soon that is for sure. |

| I know there have to be decent homes out there...I have friends who have recently placed their parents...but I have to say...I never worked in a facility for the elderly again. It was too aweful...and left me feeling hopeless daily.. I wish you all of the best...and know that you will be someones best "devils advocate" someday when they are inspecting a nursing home.. Bren

| Well I did go to the hospital and turn in an application and a copy of my resume. Now I just have to wait. Would you believe that my current job called yesterday and wanted to know if I could start coming in at 5 am. When I explained that I have to get my mom in law out of bed and in her chair before I leave for work and that would mean she would have to get up at 430 and that I didn't really want to do that to her, she said so does that mean that you can come in. Believe me I told her no. My hubby had a bad night last night with alot of chest pain, and my mom in laws blood sugar dropped very low, so I was taking care of two people at the same time. Talk about a stresser. Good news is that his chest pain finally eased up and her sugar went up. So I finally got to bed and was able to sleep some. I have applied to about 7 different places at least now including three different hospitals. I don't want to work in another nursing home and have to have full time hours so can't apply to another home health care or hospice unless they can guarantee me full time which most of them don't. And the only shifts I can work are day shift or 12 hour night shifts so that does limit me a little. But surely there is something for me out there somewhere. I do want to thank you guys again for listening and for all of the encouragement that you give me. You have no idea how much it helps to know that there are people out there that care and will listen to me. BTW last night when my hubby was so sick both yorkies were on the bed with him, one on each side and would not leave his side until his chest pain was gone. Talk about loyalty. |

| Good luck!! Just keep getting those resumes out there, and something will come up. Don't forget to tell everyone you know that you're looking. Networking is the best way to find a job.

| Well guys I got a call this afternoon from a home health company that I had mailed a resume to and they have one full time opening available. She wants to see me this week. So I have an interview on Thursday at 330. Home health is my favorite nursing job as you have flexibility and can interact with your clients one on one. My hubby told me tonight that if they offer me a position not to worry about the money aspect we will make do. That it is way more important for me to be happy. What a wonderful hubby I have. Work was tough today one of the other nurses got called a fat a-- by the administrator. I have never seen the like in my life. I have already decided that once I am gone that me and state board of health is going to have a discussion about the condition of this place. They do know I am looking for another position. I just wanted to share this small piece of good news, nothing definite yet but at least it is a start. |
