| I'm sick So yesterday I went to the doctor, because my side was hurting so bad. They first thought it might be my appendics, but it turns out I have kidney stones and a kidney infection. It is sooooo painful. I've never had this before and from what I've read, mostly men get it, or women over 50! I'm only 25!!! According to my doc, my water levels are down, so all the meat and carbs I'm eating, and not drinking water, and drinking coffee, has caused stones to form. Any one have experience with this? It hurts so bad. I can barely sit up. Does anyone know how to eliviate the pain? P.S. Coco and her daddy have been helping kiss the pain away, minus the incident of her taking a flighing leap on my kidney

| Oh you poor baby! I have gall bladder problems and I know how that can be, and I hear tha kidney stones are even worse!! I looked all over the internet for some kind of relief for you and the only one that I read a lot about was this: The Water Cure The Water Cure Recipe: Drink 1/2 your body weight of water in ounces, daily. Example 180 lb = 90 oz. of water daily. Divide that into 8 or 10 oz. glasses and that's how many glasses you will need to drink, daily. Use 1/4 tsp. of salt for every quart of water you drink. Use salt liberally with food. As long as you drink the water, you can use the salt. Avoid caffeinated or alcoholic drinks. These are diuretics and will dehydrate you. Every 6 oz. of caffeine or alcohol requires an additional 10 to 12 oz. of water to re-hydrate you. Good luck, hope the pain goes away!

I feel like I'm drowning. This really stinks. I was reading online that once you get the stones once, it will more than likely happen again, that stinks even more.

| My little sister had this same thing when she was 20. She got really sick to her stomach and had to be taken to the hospital. They put her on a morphine drip until the stones passed and if they didn't they were going to do some kind of laser surgery to explode them. Luckly they pasted. The doctor told her that if she could handle the pain from that then child birth would be a piece of cake. They also told her to stay away from caffeine and dark colored drinks because they cause the kidney stones. She only has one or two cups of coffee in the morning and drinks water the rest of day. This was 7 years ago and she has not anymore kidney stones since. Hope you feel better soon!!! |

| My mom said that kidney stones are worse than labor! I wouldn't know personally, but that sounds pretty painful! I hope you start feeling better soon!

| Ouch! I was 25 when I had my first one. You just have to drink tons of water and hope you pass it. If it's really large I know here they have places that put you inwater and hit them with ultrasound to make them easier to pass. I've had kidney stones and I've given birth....I think kidney stones are worse! I hope you feel better too.

Been there. The only thing that I can associate the paid with is labor but with that you get relief. The only thing that relieved mine was paid pills. Maybe a hot bath will help. I would sit in the tub for a while with the water as hot as I could stand it. Once the stone moves it will quit hurting. I'm sorry I wish I had better news for you. I even tried heating pads but, I couldn't stand any pressure there at all. My husband felt totally helpless while I went through this. I passed mine a couple of weeks after my emergency room visit. The doc told me that I would have another attack when it moved into the bladder. Thankfully I didn't. I hope that you feel better soon. Please keep us posted.

| Thanks. Yea my boyfriend was sitting where I was laying and he tried to just gently put his hand on my side to rub it a little and I just about yelped like Coco. He felt bad but he barely even touched my side and it hurt so bad, so I was just hunched over and he was rubbing my lower back for hours. I have never had a kid but I certainly feel like I'm giving birth.

| Pain My son had a kidney stone two years ago (25). He is a real joker. He opened the door between the garage and the kitchen and fell in on the floor. I told him to get off the floor but when he looked up at me I knew he was in horrible pain. I threw him in the car and took him to the ER. They were testing him but mostly getting him ready for the OR because his white blood cell count was high (thought is was appendix)but they did a CAT scan before they took him and found a giant stone. He passed it in the ER but there was still a few small ones left up high so they gave him antibiotics and pain med and sent him home. He has to watch his water intake as he is a runner and dehyrates easily in the summer. Everytime someone mentions this I think of the Seinfeld episode where Kramer passes a stone. |
