| I just wanted to say that mace is so dangerous. My best friend carried it with her and ended up spraying herself when the wind blew it into her face instead of the guy she was spraying. She got robbed because the mace got in her eyes and she was incapacitated. I am totally against it. It does more harm than good in my experience. It takes so long to get the mace out, unsnap the keychain, unlock the nozzle and make sure you're not spraying it in your own direction. If you do decide to get it, PLEASE be careful Kristy!

| I would have to agree with your husband that a knife is better than mace/pepper spray. I don't carry anything, but I took a self-defense class in case anything "bad" ever happens

I Love Thor Donating Member | Woah, Kristy, intense story! I was thinking mase was great until I read that. The same thing goes with a knife...you have to be so careful because it can so easily be turned around on you!...And guns too, but I really dislike guns! |

| I carry mace with me. My dad is a cop & he gave me his. He got it at a police supply store. It can be very dangerous though! I also have a knife in my purse. I think I just like knowing that they are both there. Be careful with whatever you choose.

| I carry mase with me, I don't know about carrying a knife, because you will have to get close enough to the person to use it. With the mase, it can shoot pretty far. I don't know where to get any that you can carry on a key chain, but I know that you can get it in the automotive section at wal-mart. And I think its really cheap. I do think that a self defence class is a good idea for any woman. Even if your not out at night, just because we need to be able to defend ourselves! Bad things can happen with any type of weapon, including mase. I think just having it in case of an emergeny is a good thing. But explore all your options like self-defence classes as well.

| Words of caution..... do not carry mace if you are not trained on how to use it. Take a self-defence course..... and NEVER EVER keep it on your keychain, it is too hard to get to in case of an emergency.... and lastly, don't carry mace unless you are willing to take the responsibility of that comes with carrying it. My son bought me a small cannister of police strength mace that he purchased at a self-defense class. I feel confident that I would not hesitate to use the mace against anyone or thing threatening me or my family. |

| If you are going to carry mace, be sure to get the police strength, it costs more (about $30 for a small cannister) and you are supposed to take a self-defense class to carry it, but it is legal in all 50 states and according to the directions it "instantly disables attacker, and is effective on animals and persons under the influence of alcohol or drugs. |

| Any weapon that you use, can be used against you... With that said, you can find pepper spray available at any hunting/outdoorsman shops. It isn't difficult to find at all. |

| There is a neat little weapon called a Kubaton that is a keychain and can inflict more pain than I would ever want to feel! My son's step-brother owns a couple of TaeKwon-Do schools and he also teaches some self-defense classes. This weapon is one of the things that he uses in teaching you to defend yourself. This is the website that sells them and lots of other "objects of pain"! You would absolutely need instruction but I'm sure there would be lots of places where you could find it. http://www.selfdefenseproducts.com/kub.htm
