| I love the holidays but glad they're over.. I am sad hubby is going back to work tomorrow BUT I feel so pressured to entertain him when he's off work. He is always asking me, "What do you want to do now?" Um, I just want to exist without having a task assigned to me or you expecting me to be the family events coordinator...is that OKAY?? I scream this in my head but don't say it aloud.. I am a pacifist after all..lol Also, I had two emergency room visits, a doctors visit and the ambulance was at my house the day after Christmas. This was in the span of five days. However, the day after Christmas debacle was funny. I had to call the ambulance because I almost died from eating hot sauce. Not only did this hot sauce make my stomach feel like a chainsaw went through it, but I fainted twice, hyperventilated and my arms drew up to my chest in paralysis. FUN TIMES!!!!! So, yes, glad it's all over even though I miss the tree and the excuse to binge eat and drink!!! On to Christmas 2015...lol! Oh, yes, please share any stories which are comparable to mine or at least assure me that some of you out there had a peaceful holiday. I need hope! Happy 2015 everyone!! xxx Last edited by SirTeddykins; 01-04-2015 at 07:47 AM. |

| Misty - you could be ME! Or at least I could be your mother.... Andy, Mum, Dad + I out for a lovely Christmas lunch in a country pub....mum had a seizure half-way through (she's 84) - long story short - paramedic, then ambulance, everyone trying not to look...mum throwing up but unconscious...peed herself because she'd totally relaxed...and she'd only had a pineapple juice Then on Boxing Day, I ended up having to take Andy to A+E - turns out a prolapsed disc at the top of his back but they didn't keep him in...loads of drugs (tramadol, diazepam etc. etc.) and he's now at home UNTIL AT LEAST THE 9TH JANUARY... So now I'm chief nurse/carer/cook/bottlewasher/God knows what else to the pair of them....I must have been extraordinarily horrible in a former life.... xx

| Your holiday sounds a lot like mine. A week before our highly anticipated trip, my grandma passed away. We decided to still go on the trip as staying home would not change things. We had a warm vacation in Mexico, but it was when we got back into the states that we had problems: -Flight was delayed, causing us to miss our connecting flight -Our baggage went missing -My car battery was dead when we went to pick it up and drive home -I bumped into and almost squished the guy that jumped my car -When we were almost home, hubby was t-boned by a fully loaded semi truck in his car (we had gone to pick it up from being detailed) -Had to take hubby to the hospital -His grandmother passed that same day I am just thankful that we have gone a few days with relative calm and the bad luck seems to have passed.

| Yikes, Misty, Sally, Michelle, sounds like you all have been through bad, worse and worst times this season. I love the holidays and hate when they're over, though I almost always have some plumbing or other disaster on Thanksgiving or Christmas Eve - some time during the season something always breaks or goes wrong. This year I thought I'd escaped until my "new" washing machine(April, 2014) leaked yesterday, and I was glad I had a 5-year service warranty on it until I saw some bits of dirt in the bathtub last night - a dead give-away that the washing-machine leaking is from a partial blockage in the sewer. Well, at least I made it until after the holidays before having to call for the plumber, but still close enough to keep my streak alive! P. S. My Christmas tree is still up - but my low back is out and I've got to wait until it's better to dust and clean it and the ornaments and take it alldown, store it away. So, the lights on it are on tonight and I'm heartily enjoying it. It's very, very cold(for us) outside and lots of the neighbors have their Christmas lights on tonight. Guess others are dreading the work of taking their decorations down, too, so for the time being, they're just keeping them going. And, for the first time ever, this year my neighbor didn't take her Christmas tree down the day after Christmas and leave it on the park way. It's too cold to go out and see if she's got her tree up still and her lights on, though she still has the wreath up on the door.

| Wow, I was really feeling sorry for myself and now it seems I had little justification for complaint after reading all of your stories!! I have been struggling with restless legs and arms, etc and freaked out about it one night. The next night, my face went numb. Of course, all of my symptoms and negative thoughts were exacerbated by my attempt at being Dr. Internet Search and so I had diagnosed myself with numerous things before I'd even visited the ER. My doctor visit was disappointing since, even though the appropriate blood tests were ordered, I was advised I should consider help for my aching joints which should not be aching at my age. That is very helpful advice yet I never at any stage said my joints ached. That visit resulted in total mistrust of my doctor and left a very bad taste in my mouth re: clinicians in general. I was dismayed at my attitude following my experience given my scientific pursuits in mind and mental health. I was intent on having a wonderful Christmas, despite the above, and I did. But, the day afterwards I decided to try the hot sauce my husband bought me for Christmas because it won some awards in Oklahoma in 1999 for TASTE. There are various warnings on the side of the bottle but I thought they were a joke not real warnings!! And so, I liberally doused a tortilla chip with some hot sauce and, yes, my face and throat burned. Milk was poured down my gullet to no avail! I was told that I ran in place and held the top of my head but I don't remember any of this. After ten minutes or so, the pain in my throat and face subsided and it was all very funny to me during and after anyway. I sat down to watch a movie about twenty minutes later but felt sick. I told hubby to keep the movie going and I would just throw up quickly! I found I couldn't throw up so I went upstairs and tried to make myself throw up because I had started to sweat and shake and the nausea was increasing. I tried to lie down on the bed but my stomach started to HURT more than anything I have ever felt in my life. I sort of laughed thinking it was all a misunderstanding (maybe too much booze the day before clouding my judgment?). Then, I screamed like a banshee and I think I yelled that my stomach was burning. My husband came to the bathroom where I was doubled up on the floor screaming. He asked me if I needed the ambulance (lol @ asking me btw - duh?) and I said yes and continued to scream and sweat! I went to the bed and fainted apparently for the second time. My stomach stopped hurting and suddenly my arms were numb and drawing up towards my chest with clawed hands. I wondered at it but was relieved that my stomach no longer hurt. By the time the ambulance got to the house, I was all better. I was pale and clammy but all else ok... The English man laughed at me saying that he'd never experienced anything like this episode in 11 years and I laughed with him as I was so glad the ordeal was over. He suggested I may have an ulcer which was not known about until pain triggered via the hot sauce. Anyway, that is my story and it all sounds really dumb now and it also sounded dumb at the time.. so much so that, once the ambulance driver left, I showered the sweat from me, went downstairs and asked, "Who's ready for chicken and movies?" hahahaha - just looking at that hot sauce now makes me feel sick but it won't defeat me! I just need time to tackle it appropriately.. |

| My heart goes out to everybody that had a bad holiday... mine was well it just "was"... this made 11 years without my grandmother and 1st without my grandfather and since I lived with them growing up and my family is small it is so odd without them, granted the world revolves around Teagan and the puppies these days... all the puppies in our family are treated like children so we have Joey a rescue minpin, Roomper and Rascuel Jack Russells, Guinness and Stella and Cruzer who is a yorkie/ Shih Tzu rescue so you put all of them and a 1 year old with toys in a house together and you have an interesting time LOL

We had a peaceful holiday season, the typical visits to both sides of the family, no problems, lots of food! We stepped down the decorating here this year, sorta missed it. We might pick it up again next year. | |

| Nice hot sauce reaction. I'd say that's a keeper for true hot-sauce lovers but for your sake, hope you don't try it again.
