| 4th of July is my least favorite holiday.... It's official.. I can't stand fourth of july... I was so annoyed last night at the fireworks that seemed to never stop. Poor Charlie was so spazzed out that he was panting and shaking and following me around everwhere with this dazed look on his face. I felt so bad. And huge booms and bangs just kept going until late at night. Like midnight. I couldn't even drive down the friggen street without having to stop and wait for someone to finish letting their firework burn. |

| I would have to say New Years Eve is my least favorite because my neighbors start the fireworks early and they go on until after midnight. Last night I heard a few fireworks but it was not to late and not to many.

| I so totally understand. My A$$Hole neighbor that lives behind us was shooting off firework's and LOUD BOOMS and BANGS and lot's of sparks and noise. Heck it scared me. My Willow who is terrified of any loud noise was more frightened last night than I have ever seen her, so much so that she pooped herself. My other two nothing ever bothes them, but they were very scared last night and I had all 3 crawling on me. It was so sad. I finally called the police as Fire Works are not allowed in our city.

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | It's horrible. In Alaska, firecrackers, bottle rockets and other explosives are legal and for sale 40 miles away from the biggest city in the state. So EVERYBODY has explosive fireworks. They're bad on July 4 and New Year's. My oldest Yorkie escaped the dog-sitter on July 4 when he was just 1, and he wandered for 4 hours before returning home. He's been traumatized ever since.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Luckily, we couldn't hear any fireworks at all. But I feel so badly for those doggies who get so traumatized by it . Poor babies.

| Ditto! Except in my area they can set off any kind of fire works from 5:00 pm until 2 hours after sun set. Every year I have to call the police to come and stop it. They do enforce it but only if folks complain. I get up at 4:00 am on weekends so I have the police on speed dial on the 4th and New Years. I'm sure I'm on the I phone ID Cali runs me crazy tripping to find the noise and get it so she is hyped up all night. As for setting them off in the street, they can't dooming in public places without a permit so they can only do it on their own property.

| I have to say, I agree with you. I was so mad last night, I was seriously considering calling the police on my neighbors. There were fireworks so close, it literally shook my house....scared the crap out of me so I can only imagine how the dogs feel. Luckily none of mine seem to be really terrified of them, but I have 7 dogs and every time one goes off, everybody goes nuts barking. |

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | I am pretty lucky the nieghbors set off fireworks but they are not very close and they shoot it over the fields. We barely hear it. And Galen is really good.

| Don't get me wrong.. I appreciate the meaning behind the holiday, but people get out of hand with the fireworks. |

| Yep. I personally think that with all the accidents people have with them that they should be illegal except for like the people who do them at the certain parks the night of the 4th and who know what they are doing and firemen and stuff are around.

| I have come to dislike July 4th and New Year's Eve. As I type, one of my slug neighbors is setting off fireworks. Maggie is hiding in the closet, I have to be up at 4:30am to get ready for work but I will spend most of the night getting up and checking on her. Fireworks aren't illegal per the law but the HOA has banned them. It doesn't matter, if they could see Maggie shaking in the closet they might contain themselves. I didn't think they would start again tonight so I didn't give her any Benadryl or Rescue Remedy in time to help her. Yes, I'm a hater.

| Poor Lola has had a rough 5 days, 2 nights of thunderstorms and 3 nights of fireworks. Luckily the fireworks don't bother her near as much as the thunder. My aunt's dog has a horrible time with both though. |
