| Show me your sewing/hobby room! I need some organization ideas. We will be moving to the new house next month. I finally get a whole room just for me to turn into a studio! It's a small bedroom with sliding door closet, but I will also have the kitchen pantry (walk in) just outside the room. The kitchen has so much storage that we won't need it for the kitchen. It's just me and bf. I will mostly be doing sewing and millinery, but want to start up my illustration again. So I need ideas to organize fabrics, threads, pencils and pens. What are your favorite organization ideas in your hobby room?

YT 2000 Club Member | I love Pinterest for organization ideas! I scrapbook and use the 12x12 plastic stackable drawers for all my paper, stickers, stamps, bling, glue, etc. My closet is full of them stacked and labeled. A labeler is a must! I also have a large computer desk with upper storage and lower. I had the room to myself, until a granddaughter came to live with us ......now she shares the room and it is not as organized!

| Bookshelves and baskets. I use an old (huge) desk for a cutting station and have 2 cutting mats on it. I store stabilizers and other stuff in the drawers. I have all my rulers on the wall within reach. My thread all hangs on the wall as well. I have a design wall across one whole wall, and use the opposite wall to hang quilts for pictures. I took some smaller bookshelves and turned them on their side and stacked them and use baskets and boxes. As I pull fabrics for upcoming orders, they get put into these boxes and then as I cut the fabric they go into a clear box with a lid and notes as to the pattern, fabric cut sizes, etc. As I sew, everything goes back into the clear box until the top is complete, then the top, backing fabric and the thread go into another unit with drawers that's by my longarm machine and await quilting. My fabric is all folded onto comic book boards and stores upright on bookshelves. (My breast cancer fabric is actually in a locked cabinet) . I'll see if I can get a few pictures tomorrow and post for you. IKEA has really great stuff for organizing!'

| I have been looking in consignment stores for an old desk for a cutting station/pattern drafting table. The room is barely big enough to put the table in the middle of the room so I can have access all around. I want to have one wall that is cork so I can pin things up. Also thinking about putting a backdrop mounted to the ceiling so I can pull down and take photos.

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Priscilla, since space will be tight with a cutting table, maybe look into the folding ones? I got one from Joann's that has 2 drop sides. When I need it I have a workspace of 36" x 80" (ish) and when not in use it can fold to 36" x 12". It's on wheels and has locking casters. I don't keep a ton of fabrics on hand but I do have them all in clear bins (that are numered for inventory) then stacked in bookcases. Congrats on the move!

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Oh wow, how FUN...your own creative space . I have a creative space, but mine is for painting, so I don't think a picture of it would really help you with what you're needing. I do like little cubby thingies for organizing small things. And, I got some cool vintage ice cream glasses from Good Will for holding my paintbrushes.

And the backdrop idea is cool. PVC pipe is lightweight and can be easily put together and taken apart if needed. I was just at the dollar tree and they have a lot of baskets and even the collapsible fabric boxes...

| What flooring do you guys have? I like the feel of carpet but it's inevitable I will drop pins. and then I will step on them. Plus being an Asian household, no shoes worn inside. We are putting in wood floors in the kitchen/great room, which is the same level as my work room. Just wondering should I also put in the wood then add in some cushion mats to stand on or just leave it carpet?
