| Oh yeah, the weather is CRAZY. It's supposed to warm up to 41 this afternoon. I don't know about the plants, I'm not much of a gardener. |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Even beyond the plants and trees in homeowners yards that might die, I'm worried how this will effect food supply.

| We had -1 degrees here in North Texas once & I would never ever want to go through that again. The central heat ran night and day for 24 hours or more! You fear your pipes will freeze and burst, the power could go out and you would be miserably cold and in the dark for days, your car battery will die just when you will need the car to go to a hotel if things get too bad, things like that. I hope the dang polar vortex stays in place for the rest of the winter! Hope everyone makes it through this without anything too bad happening to them. Ya'll stay warm and safe.

| Snow Daze here in Alabama It surely is! I live about 35 miles from the Ga line, off I-20. It was 3 degrees here this morning. Day before yesterday we were supposed to get only a "dusting" of snow. We got 3-4" & I was unfortunate enough to be out & about when it arrived. It was a horrendous 10 mile drive home with cars slipping & sliding everywhere but thank the Lord I got home safely. It's just that it took me about an hour and a half to make the usual 20 minute drive! |

There won't be any shortages, but winter crops are trading at much higher prices -- including things that cattle eat, so beef prices are expected to go up. Florida farmers report that their strawberry crops are holding.

| So sorry for all my freezing YT friends, hope it is soon over and warming up again. I've heard the cold weather in Florida has lead to an avocado shortage for the Super Bowl (guacamole). Too bad. I have a surplus of avos here, the tree in my front yard really over produced this year, and I'm giving them away daily.

0 here is a common thing...but negatives aren't all that common here. This year they are though! The other day, the day high was 6. That really stinks. I think our cars are used to it though and heat here runs 24/7 from Nov - March sometimes Oct - Apr! I love love love summer here, but I hate hate hate winter here! Today we are grateful for 29. Its been no warmer than mid-teens all week.

Okay, I don't normally feel jealous but I am feeling jealous right now - and it is not even cold where I am at right now! 50 deg? But abundant avacados in my front yard tree!! Yup, I am jealous
